Passenger Car Summer Trackday and Competition Tires Tire Review Highlights
After going through a set of Bridgestone RE-71RS, I had to go back to Yokohama A052 as I couldn't source a set of the former. The A052 are a fantastic track tire. Amazing grip and consistency through multiple heat cycles. For a novice track warrior, these are all the tire you'll need. I do prefer the Bridgestone though. I find it suits my driving style better and the stiffer sidewalls give me more feedback longer into a session whereas I find the Yokos get a bit spongy for me after about 4 hot laps. Both tires are street legal in Australia, and both are great in the dry. The Yokohama is slightly more noisy in my car than the Bridgestones, but they are both very noisy. I find the Yokohamas slightly more comfortable on the street as well. The Yokohama is NOT good in heavy rain and standing water though. I really struggle with it whereas the Bridgestone provides way more confidence in standing water. For track days, the Yokohamas are perfect, but I would not daily them again.

These tires are specifically for my autocross/track car. My first impression was that they were instantly on, very compliant regarding the weather (40-95f). They perform amazingly in all facets. I would drive hundreds of miles to and from my events ON THEM, and I put on thousands of miles on top of the laps I was doing. They performed excellently. I didn't even realize they had gotten worse until one cold lap I ended up looping my vehicle. Turns out I had 1/32nd of tread left, but it gave it all up until then. I liked them so much I got them again for this season. Will swap them out half way for either the RE71RZ or the A052.

Great tires that are surprisingly good in the wet for their class. Grip is unmatched compared to other street focused 200TW
Unfortunately had these tires blow up hitting a pot hole prematurely but I had a good experience with them

For a more street-oriented 200 TW tire, the amount of dry grip is outstanding. Steering response is amazing as well. Feedback isn't great, but it has some

My car came with these original fit in N rated Porsche spec. I've since had Michelin Cup 2 and PS4 on teh car, but keep trying to find the Race 2 as it is definitely as good as or better than teh Cup 2, but has better wear and high temperature stability. It would appear however that after 2018 Dunlop stopped making this tire in any comemrcial quantity making it pretty much impossible to find at least in Australia, or UK in Porsche sizes.

I use these as essentially a rally tarmac tires for street use. Trundling around traffic they are extremely well behaved for a semi-slick, hardly any tread noise even half worn and surprisingly comfortable, not worse than an UUHP sports tire.

When there is no traffic and free view, I love them for their amazing grip and even more amazing feedback on the limit which is just a delight. Beats the OE P Zero, V107 and AD09 I've had on the car with no comparison. Just so progressive dry or wet. And effectively quiet, no 'someone is having an accident' tire squeal firmly on the limit.

That grip comes in immediately and, against prejudice, is also there in the wet and when cold with just a few turns even near freezing.
When not used on track, heat related excessive wear hasn't been an issue, although I haven't yet used them above 20°C, will go to 285 width for that.

Downsides:
- The tread pattern and depth isn't made to counteract aquaplaning, these are not tires for the unaware, only for seasoned experienced drivers that know what they have under the car intimately. Once aquaplaning comes in the breakaway from high grip levels isn't forgiving.
- While wear isn't catastrophic even on my heavy car when not tracking, they will barely last 10"000km driven enthusiastically and only because I rotate them and run appropriate extra neg camber. Hoping 285 width will last a tad longer next. This is essentially a competition tire that only last one street summer season for me tops, if not from wear, probably from heat cycles. As such a very expensive tire, but for a driver enthusiast, tires are just as important as the car itself....

Very good at road legal speed and once warm very precise, level noise acceptable. On track days the Dunlop last longer that Michelind PS 2 with similar performance if not better taking in consideration precision and breake feeling, lap over lap performance remain constanly extremely good. I will buy Maxx Race 2 again and again.

Went from 5995 to these. These take far less time to heat up, and I've only ever broken loose under extreme cold conditions in the dry. But in the wet, these are useless. Understeering and oversteering if not given the upmost care in moderate/light rain. Lastly, the wear has much to be desired. Driving around city and highway, with occasional hard drives these wear out in 6 months. The big issue is the cost. SO many better options at that price point. These are priced near pilot sports and do not touch that tire in its balance and performance. I would not recommend these tires.

Tires lasted about 5 track days. I found heat management to be a problem. First lap is needed to warm the tires and laps 2 & 3 are fast. But starting at lap 4, the tires already become greasy. The problem seems to becomes less obviously as the tires age, but I find the RE-71RS to be slightly faster, wear at at similar pace (maybe slightly slower), and manage heat better for longer. Because of that, I would choose the RE-71RS over the CR-S. The Track Attack Pro being more expensive and wearing a lot faster takes this competitor out of the equation for me for practice, but for a competitive time attack of time trial, I would absolutely consider it. I'm putting the new RE-71RZ to the test right now also. More to come on that...

Tires last about 5 track days over the course of 7 months and 1,842 miles. Overall, they give you about 5 good laps before they become greasy, but are still very manageable after laps 6-7. They do become slower though. Fastest lap needs to be achieved early on in the session. Second half will not yield a personal best, even if you are driving faster/better.

The P1 is a really nice steering tire, and if you get it in the right window, it's fast. But on my vehicle, it overheats very quickly. A good autocross tire, but not a good track day tire.
