The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R is a track-focused summer tire with precise steering and strong dry handling once warm. Wet-road performance and aquaplaning resistance are less dependable, while braking results vary between tests.
The P Zero Trofeo R suits dry track days where steering precision and lap pace matter most. In independent tests it led dry handling in Sport Auto's 2018 and 2022 mixed-field comparisons and the 2019 17-inch track test. Testers repeatedly praised steering feel, traction and control near the limit. Consistent dry laps earned praise in Tire Reviews' 2020 comparison, which rated it Highly recommended. Several tests found it needed a proper warm-up before delivering its grip.
Its wet record needs context. The 2020 wins in wet braking and handling against two track rivals were unusually favorable beside weak results in Sport Auto's mixed road-and-track fields. Wet stopping distances were 46.4% longer than the best in 2018 and 45.5% longer in 2022, while aquaplaning was a recurring concern even in otherwise favorable tests. Dry braking is also inconsistent, ranging from first of ten in Sport Auto's 2017 test to last of ten in 2022. Its dry-track strengths are therefore a firmer conclusion than any claim of short stops in all conditions, and its warm-up and wet-weather limitations reduce its appeal for everyday road use.

The dry performance of these tires are very good. I would say it is grippier than the cup 2.
However, when taking feedback and wet performance into account, it is more like a slick tire to me than a road tire for track use, only it last even shorter than a slick tire...........

Best semi slick tire on track usage. The tire should be hot for optimum performance, thus on street it wears very fast. On track it is faster than Cup2 and way beyond faster than cheap semi slicks like Toyo Proxes R888 R.
