Mazda 3 MPS Tires

Coming from Michelin PS3 following things really impressed me:

- Steering Feel. It is super direct and feels amazing.
- Wet Grip. It's kinda insane I have to admit I was able to push it during rainstorms.
- 1. and 2. Gear pull no wheelspin with 260hp and 380nm. No matter if dry or wet.
- Tire warms up in 3 min of normal driving

I was able to compare the performance to my friend, who was driving a Ford Focus RS MK2 with Michelin Cup2.
In the dry, cornering speed are the same at the beginning. But as soon, as the Bridgestone get to hot, they loose grip.
In the Rain it goes crazy, without any compromise you can hammer around the corners, as long, as there isn't any deep water.

If you want to use them for track, I recommend it for rainy days. In the dry, it will melt.

On the German Autobahn above 200km/h, I kinda had the feeling the tires loose a lot of precision, because they get to hot, or can't deal with high speeds for more than 5 min.
It felt like driving balloon winter tires.
This only happened on hot summer days (30°C).

Comfort is not it's strength. It feels rather harsh and is a bit noisy.

Now, I am able to test Cup2 against it.
Most difference is temperature tolerance, obviously.
Cup 2 are better above 20°C, need lots of heat to work. If it's under 20°C, it has less grip, in the cold wet it's really low.

They are surprisingly comfortable and quiet compared to the Potenza Sport.

Potenza have better wear on the streets, TW300.
Cup2 better wear on track, TW180.

Good in the dry but not the best. Very poor in the wet (when pushed quite hard in the wet coming out of corners, lost front wheel traction without warning a few times which could have ended badly!). They're sporty but noisy. Changed to Goodyear as3's which were far superior.

Changed from Bridgestone potenza 050a to these. I was looking for more comfort (over bumps and quieter) and better wet grip. I definitely got both of these but I lost the precise handling and road feedback of the performance tires. After these (55000km) I changed to Goodyear as3's which gave me back the proper sporty handling plus very good confident wet grip and low noise levels.

Driving in the dry felt always safe, sticky, even when cold. It's surprisingly good in the wet. I wasn't event sure if it's noticeable slower than in the dry. I never experienced Aquaplaning with these tires. The feedback from the tires is very progressive as long as u have the right tire pressure. Once the tire got temperature/rising pressure the performance gets expectantly worse. But as soon as I corrected the pressure with hot tires they were mind blowing. They lasted pretty much one season for me with about 10.000km. Driving to work everyday I was still using the tires about 80% because I got some nice curves on the way. In the night I was using them 100% with hard braking, hard acceleration, maximum speed through corners with lift off oversteer, handbrake drifts and a couple burnouts at the traffic lights. Even at the end of the rubber with lower temperatures in autumn they still performed safe and reliable. Comfort was okay, as it's a UHP and not a Touring tire. I would buy them again for a good price since they're older. But I'd rather try newer generations from Goodyear.

I immediately sold the tires as they handled dangerously bad on my Mazda 3 MPS BK. It might be the size to be responsible for this. I was driving 50kmh doin slalom and the tires lost control so the stability system had to kick in. Driving 100kmh felt dangerous as the tires felt extremely soft and indirect like a sponge. I cannot recommend this tire. No I am warning not to buy this unless you are a very slow driver and want to save money. But even in that case there are better choices for example the Nexen or Fulda.

The king of All Around tires is the american Goodyear! Very good to excellent in all aspects! They replaced Dunlop Sport Maxx 2 that were very good at dry but NOT GRIPPY AT ALL at wet roads! I made a research about this matter and i saw with surprise that is a characteristic of all Dunlop tires in general!!! I purchased them because as a sister company of Goodyear i thought that it was the same thing but BIG MISTAKE. Goodyear is a real PREMIUM brand and you feel it when driving: they grip so hard at the road that i press the right pedal softer than before gaining at fuel consumption, wet grip gives a dry-grip feel (!) that makes you go faster especially at corners, low noise, comfort but not as 2nd gen that i had in the past and better braking. A plus also is the good price ;)

Those tires are best buy. I use them on a Mazdaspeed3, with several mods.
Previously, I had PS4, which were great, but wear was really bad. So I tought I should give those a try. Probably the wear will be worse, but the handling, dry grip and breaking were comparable, a little bit better on the PS4 but not miles away.

Had a pair of these ATR Sport 2 on my car for a year, for the fronts.
First half with daily driving duties, while the second half it was used mainly on the weekend drives up winding roads / highway runs
With 450nm torque on the front tires these tires really put up a better-than-expected performance, similar to brands twice it's price. Despite being 400treadwear rated, it grips very well in the dry, and in the wet it had decent performance (only towards the end of its useful life did it struggle for traction in the wet).
Feedback is superb as well, lots of warnings when it's about to reach the limit of grip, fun on winding roads.
Not as noisy as the Kumho V720, grips like the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymm 2, and durability that exceeds both those brands, for its price i would definitely give it another go. Very pleased indeed

Very impressed at the overall performance of the tire and consider it very good value for money.
Confidence inspiring and good feedback.
Only issue would be the wear & tear, which I feel could be better.
Definitely recommended and would buy again.

Was surprised at the level of grip these GT Radials offered, grippy in the dry and was vert good with spirited driving. Even in the wet I experienced very little aquaplaning despite hitting some slight puddles on the highway.
It was still giving good feedback in the wet when slightly new, and decent levels of feedback towards the end of its life.
Highly recommended as a reasonable budget mid range performance tire, if it held up well on a FWD 380Nm torque car like the Mazda 3 MPS, it can definitely be a good set for most performance JDM turbo sports sedans/coupes.hatchbacks.
Just be sure to rotate them accordingly.
