Performance Analysis

Drawn from 9 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Toyo Snowprox S954 repeatedly handles well on dry roads but loses ground in snow and often in the wet. Sport Auto placed it ninth of ten in 2017, despite second in dry handling and third in dry braking, and recommended it with caution. Auto Zeitung found the same split in 2020: first for subjective dry handling, but last of 14 in snow braking and 13th in wet braking, leaving it 12th overall. The 2021 Auto Bild Sportscars test again praised dynamic dry handling, while snow handling was last of 13 and snow traction 13th of 14.

Aquaplaning resistance and steering precision draw repeated praise, although measured aquaplaning placings vary. Wet performance is less consistent than the snow weakness: in the 2019 AutoCentrum test it was fourth of ten in wet braking, only 4.2% behind the best, and was described as good in the dry and wet in a field with just two premium manufacturers. Its first place in snow traction there is an unusual contradiction of its other snow results; snow braking and subjective snow handling were both last in that same test. Auto Bild Sportscars also praised stable wet handling in 2019, but other tests found wet understeer or weak grip. These exceptions do not remove the recurring winter-grip limitations.
