Performance Analysis

The Fulda SportControl has a mixed summer test record, with aquaplaning resistance, wear and efficiency more convincing than outright handling. Aquaplaning resistance earned praise in the 2013 Auto Review test, where it was fourth of nine, and in the 2014 Auto Bild full test, where it finished fourth of 15. Low wear and fuel consumption were positives even when ADAC placed it 13th of 16 in 2016 for relatively weak wet and dry performance. Auto Zeitung placed it 12th of 14 in 2015, criticising long braking distances on both surfaces and dry understeer, despite low rolling resistance.

The 2012 Auto Bild full test awarded eco master for the best price/performance combination and praised wear, fuel consumption and short dry braking, although it finished tenth of 15 with only average handling. Its strong wet grip there was unusual beside the wet criticism from ADAC in 2016, Auto Zeitung in 2015 and AMS in 2011. Dry braking also varies, with praise from Auto Bild in 2012 and 2015 contrasting with the 2015 Auto Zeitung complaint. The increased fuel consumption noted by Auto Bild in 2014 was another unusual result against the more frequent efficiency praise. Noise and comfort have too little consistent support to count as clear strengths.

2013 Auto Review Performance Summer Tire Test

Auto Review 225/45 R17

Excellent aquaplaning results and good braking in the wet. Slightly less grip on a wet lap, but the tire is easy to manage past the limit. Similar behavior in the dry, the price is just a little too high for a "mid range" brand. Excellent result.
