Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDi R Line Estate Tires

I had these tire on my two cars
VWPassat B7 1.6D sedan and Passat B8 estate, they performed well on the B7, on the B8 they lasted 11 months or around 12k miles, after had to replace the front set, as worn out

I thought they were good tire but on one of then a chunk delaminated

Mediocre middle-class tires mostly made i Thailand, but you can rely on them.
Road feedback and comfort is mediocre at best, they just feel and sound like modern hard eco-tires. I had Michelin Primacy 3's on my former car, a Volvo V70 2010 and I have to say, the Primacies gave a bit better feeback and had better comfort. But, Falken ZE914 are not bad tires. They give almost no feedback for better or worse and feel stiff and numb, but they have tremendous dry-grip, they just never slip and I haven't had any problems when driving in rain either and aquaplaning has never occurred. They do feel very hard when you hit potholes (with normal tire pressure), but the car never wanders when driving on badly mantained highways.
I don't know about long-time wear yet. I haven't driven them more than 3000 miles, but they still look like new, all 4 tires have 7 mm left (8mm new) so I suppose they'll easily last 15000-20000 miles.
My opinion is that you get your bang for the buck, but you also somewhat get what you pay for. I bought these because they were 30% cheaper than Michelin Primacy 4's or Conti PremiumContacts 6's for my car and with that price difference I would definitely buy them again.

An appalling tire! My Michelin Primacy 3s were dead and I went to the local tire depot. The Michelins were a great tire but quite a price tag and on a average car (passat esstate) were a bit overkill so I asked if they could recommend a mid-range tire. They came up with the Evergreen EU72, I had never heard of evergreen before but held the tire depots opinion in high regard as i've been going there for years.

Very quickly is was apparent that these tires are not mid-range (ie comparable with Toyo, Falken, etc) they are from the budget bin. I know these are not going to stand up to the reputation of the previous Michelin occupants for my wheels but these are significantly nosier, I have lost 4mpg on the daily 100 mile commute and lateral grip is horrendously diminished!

I've had them on the car for a few months now and tried them in numerous different types or roads and conditions and my conclusion on the grip/responsiveness is that stopping distance in increased slightly, but going round corners is horrific to the point where the car I have driven over 70k miles in sometimes now scares me when I go around corners in the wet.

I've only done 5000 miles on them so far and they look as if they will at least match, if not exceed, the 21k I got out of the last tires.

Maybe these were mis-sold to me and they should never have been recommended as 'mid-range' but these tires, in my opinion, are mid-range in price but nothing above budget in performance. I will be going back to the premium brands next time.

These tires on this car are a nightmare on the front of the Passat but brilliant on the rear.

I have now covered 44000 miles in my 10 plate Passat. The rear tires are still the original pair from when the car was new, outstanding! They still have 3mm left on them so I think they should be good for up 50000 miles.

But......these tires on the front are just crap. I am ready now to change to the 4th, yes 4th pair of front tires. I have had 2 sets on Conti sport contact 3 and a set of Kumho which I am not reviewing here but are even worse on the wear front.

I will not be buying Conti's again because the wear I road noise for me is just too high in my opinion unless your sticking them on a rear axle.
