Fitment comes from each tire's manufactured size list, and the sizes are the ones drivers reported when they reviewed. Check the size, load index and speed rating on your own doorplate before buying - a size a previous owner ran is not always the size your car left the factory on.

How long do tires last on the BMW 118d?

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 245-35-18 BMW 118d 24,585 miles September 29, 2026

A very, very good tire.

Previously, I had the Hankook Ventus S1 evo3, and I can say that the Asymmetric 6 are considerably better than the evo3 in practically every aspect, grip in both dry and wet conditions and, most importantly, consistency of performance throughout the tire's lifespan.
Straight-line aquaplaning is practically non-existent, even when the tires are close to the TWI, which is much, much better than the evo3. With the evo3, once they were below half tread depth and in wet conditions, I considered their behavior to be dangerous.
The Asymmetric 6 were only €15 more expensive per tire than the evo3, and in my opinion, they are well worth the extra cost. I have much more confidence when driving in a sporty manner, both in dry and wet conditions. The tire's behavior is very linear and progressive, with no surprises.

One point I consider negative is the wear. The left rear tire developed a rather strange wear pattern, it wore significantly more between the center of the tire and the outer shoulder, despite using the same tire pressure on both sides and having the alignment checked and correct. I had never seen anything like this before. It may have been an issue with this particular tire, but fortunately, it did not affect its performance. In this respect, the Hankooks are better, they lasted around 7,000 km more than the Asymmetric 6, and the wear was also more even across the entire tread.
The Asymmetric 6 are slightly more comfortable than the evo3 and also slightly quieter. They also have more rim protection, which is always welcome.

I highly recommend this tire. Also use the Asymmetric 6 on the front axle in size 225/40 R18.

This tire lasted 39,566 km / 24,585 mi, which is less than the Hankooks, but I am perfectly happy to make that trade-off for the extra grip and safety.

Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 245-35-18 BMW 118d 28,661 miles September 29, 2026

A tire that does what it is supposed to do, considering the price.

Previously, I had Continental ContiSportContact 5 RunFlat and replaced them with the standard version of the Hankook (non-RunFlat). In terms of comfort, compared to the Contis, the evo3s are significantly better, mainly because they are not RunFlat, and the overall behavior of the tire is also better for that reason.
The tire performs well on both dry and wet roads when it is new. However, its performance decreases significantly as it wears. Once it is around halfway worn, the levels of grip drop considerably, both in dry and wet conditions.
I do a lot of motorway driving and, on rainy days, straight-line aquaplaning becomes quite noticeable once the tire is more than halfway worn. This does not happen when the tire is new. The traction control also activates quite often, which does not make for a very pleasant experience.
In terms of noise, they are slightly quieter than the Conti´s. The tire wears evenly. It could have a little more rim protection, as there is practically none.

This tire lasted 46,127 km / 28,661 mi, which I consider to be quite good, having only been used on the rear axle.

Puncture on a Friday night but no problem driving home and getting to the tire bay on Monday. Tires finally got advised for wear on MoT after four years and about 50,000 miles. Still on the car when sold. Never lost grip in wet or dry, No panic hitting surface water or potholes at speed. New car has Bridgestone Potenzas but will put Eagles on as soon as needed.

Almost perfectly satisfied with this tires. Past winter they lost grip in wet and icy backyard, but I managed to break away after some maneuvering, 15 seconds most, nothing serious. It was first winter driving BMW ( back wheels drive ), so I was prepared for something like that to happen. Also a bit of aquaplaning with the same car 3 years ago,I felt that I lost contact with the surface after hitting a rain pond driving 80 miles per hour. It lasted for couple of seconds, not reflecting control.I just felt it.Otherwise, perfect, comfortable. Maybe I will try Kleber Qudraxer 3 next time. Same tire, basically, just 30% cheaper. I would recommend these tires to anyone that drives normally. I also drove Hankooks,Goodyears, even laufens, all of them allseasons. They were very good too, Michelins are just more comfortable. You will have no problem. For overenthusiastic drivers...no tire will keep them safe.

It’s been almost two years since my 4 tires were fitted. 28,000 miles driven. All 4 tires have 5mm tread depth remaining, or approximately 47% worn. Tires are wearing evenly. I am very happy with these tires as all-rounders for varied road and weather types. I’m not a boy racer but occasionally like to get as spirited as the car will let me. I’ve never been let down by the tires, but I also know I am driving within their capacity. The wear rate seems really good for me. I’m also using the run-flats so comfort is a little stiffer but I also like it that way anyway. Took the car to Europe last winter and was not let down in snowy and icy conditions over there. In summary, super happy, suit me well and will replace with the same when the time comes. Cheers.

I have now driven over 12,000 miles on this set. I use my car for work, travelling weekly across the UK, from the south in summer to the north in winter, experience all manner of seasons, temperatures and road conditions. I drive a mix of motorways, A and B roads, motorway speeds and tootling about town and everything in between. I also use the run flat version. Firstly, I have to mention the wear. These tires are possibly the longest wearing tire I’ve ever used. They are wearing away slowly and evenly. I’m going to get many more miles from this set, they are incredible in terms of wear. Now, more generally, possibly the best All Season tire I’ve ever used and even of the best tires I’ve used ever. Performance in heat and cold is incredible. The car always feel sure footed and on rails. I’m not driving like a rally or F1 driver, but for what I’m doing, these tires feel responsive, safe and predictable and are still fun in sport mode on a twisty back road. Wet handling is superb. I have driven in snow and these tires are perfectly good at getting you through a snow storm or snow covered roads. Comfort is a little harsh particularly as I’m using the run flats, but not uncomfortable and I actually prefer that kind of feedback anyway. As reviewed, these tires really are good at delivering well across all situations, even the current heatwaves we are having aren’t really bothering these tires. So, I’m very happy and unless you are a boy racer, I think these tires are going to suit most applications well and last quite a while doing it.

I bought the tires in March 2024. I was generally satisfied with them. At the beginning of July 2025, we had to replace the tires after 20,000 km because they were worn out. I think that's not enough performance. I won't buy any more Bridgestone tires.

Overall performance - good. TOO expensive! Wears too fast: more than 1mm per 10000km (I'm not extreme driver)

Having had tires last as little as 3hours or as long as 5years I have had these on the car for 18months with at least another 6months left on them I expect. If the car didn’t chime and warn me of tire deflation I would never have guessed that a screw had given me a puncture and even then confidently drove home at 50mph. They do get sticky in hot weather but even Welsh winters don’t phase them. Rain, ice, snow and surprise floods on dark motorways are handled with ease.

Sporty driving style, the tire performs excellently in any situation. Good grip on wet and dry surfaces, decent behavior on snow or ice, however on par with renowned tires.
