Best Tires for the Tesla Model 3 Performance

Running ZSR2 on my Tesla Model 3 Performance. On paper, the specs are great (EU label B/A/69dB), and they are honestly quiet and comfy for daily driving. However, wet grip is a weak point—I find the ESC kicking in too easy on wet corners.

The wear rate is the real dealbreaker: 1.6mm (rear) and 1.0mm (front) gone in just 2,500 miles. At this rate, even with frequent rotations, they’ll hit the wear bars by 12,300 miles. They might be cheap to buy, but the poor longevity makes them a bad value in the long run.

I've previously used the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. Compared to the PSAS4, the Pilot Sport 4S feels softer and slightly quieter. I’ve pushed these tires pretty hard on mountain roads during the summer, and the dry grip is excellent. That said, after several spirited mountain runs, I started noticing some minor cracking on the sidewalls. Road noise is about the same as the PSAS4 — still loud as hell.

Bought these tires mainly for track use, but also ended up using them on the road last summer. Extremely good on track, even better in the wet which surprised me. Side wall is ultra stiff but I enjoyed this and rolled over potholes in the UK no problem. Wear was ok, I did 7 track full days in these plus driving round 3 months in the summer. Will be buying again.

This is an average tire. So much for the hype of EV but really about the same as others (or worse). Not a bad tire if you get a good price say half of Hankook for example.

I had the Hankook ION Evo tires installed to replace the stock Pirelli P Zero (PZ4) Elect tires on my Tesla Model 3 Performance.
There are pros and cons compared to the stock Pirelli tires:

Pros:

- Quieter
- More comfortable
- Better grip in rain and wet conditions
- Slightly lighter steering feel
- Slightly easier acceleration straight of the line
- More efficient (+/- 1% less battery consumption per trip)

Cons:

- Steering feel and response are less direct
- Grip during hard cornering is not great
- Overall sportiness is diminished

For the daily (very) sporty driver, it may not be recommended, but for anyone outside this category, it is definitely worth considering.

I have the Hankook iON EVO AS 235/45/18 tires on my 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance with 18x8.5 T Sportline TS5 wheels.

The tires are XL tires with 600 Treadwear rating, A Traction rating, A Temperature rating, and W speed rating. They also have a 50k mile warranty. Finally, they weigh about 23.4 lbs according to my bathroom scale.

The efficiency is just incredible with them. I have done controlled efficiency testing around a 25 mile loop with the same weather conditions, battery temp, and battery SOC. The Hankook iON EVO AS tires were 18% more efficient than the original 235/35/20 Pirelli PZ4 tires that came on the car.

They were also 10% more efficient than the 235/45/18 Michelin PS4S tires I had on the same wheels. However, those tires had about 7,000 miles of wear on them. These Hankook tires were brand new with 10mm of tread depth.

I averaged 207 wh/mi over a 223 mile trip at a 61 mph GPS measured average speed with these Hankook tires in a Model 3 Performance. That would give me about 381 miles of real world range.

I definitely want to see Tirereviews test these tires especially for efficiency. The range increase I am getting is just unbelievable with these tires. They are less than $200 per tire at Walmart here in the states. That is actually a reasonable price.

The design of the four overlapping grooves and the through-type pattern makes the water drainage quite good. The design of the moderate hardness of the tire wall makes me feel confident It is a very good product and will continue to use it in the future.
