235/35 R20 Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
rated 83%
The set on my Porsche Cayman 3.4 GTS (981) were purchased on eBay from a dealer in Germany. Turns out that the OEM wheel & tire set was evidently new / old stock, with manufacturing dates of 2014 (purchased in 2024). Initially I was circumspect about driving hard on the tires, but they were 'as new' and have performed brilliantly on road and track. On the limit the car begins to move around but in a friendly manner, without drama even at high speeds. Wear has been very good. I have staggered sizes (265/35x20 Rears) and these are probably 80% worn in comparison to the fronts at 50%. This is to be expected as it's a rear drive car with 350+ bhp. I'm now wondering about what to fit next. Michelin PS4S is the defacto choice for most Porsches of this vintage (2016 model year). The car came on newish Pirelli P Zero's which didn't last well on track. I want to try the Michelin's but would hate to lose the on-limit feel of the Eagles. It would be interesting to make a comparison of the Eagle F1 Assy 2 and the later Assy 5 or 6. I've tried to do this on the comparator but it doesn't seem to be possible.

I own a BMW X2 M35i. 225kw 450nm. It has power to burn, now it has the tires to match it. Dry grip it’s a fair bit ahead of the Pirelli Zero, it is way ahead in the wet grip! I use to race motorcycles, so I push the car to its limit a lot. The car has a limited slip differential on the front and the steering feedback is fantastic. Braking in dry and wet conditions is sensational. I can’t understand why some reviews bag the mileage out of these, I have done almost 20k and rotated them only last week as the fronts were scuffing up on the edges compared to the rears. 30k is achievable, easily. 40psi on the front and 38psi on the rear keeps things in balance. Comfort is average, but if you want comfort buy a S class Mercedes with touring tires. Would I buy these again, hell yes!

Writing about the Hankook iON Evo
rated 83%
I had the Hankook ION Evo tires installed to replace the stock Pirelli P Zero (PZ4) Elect tires on my Tesla Model 3 Performance.
There are pros and cons compared to the stock Pirelli tires:
Pros:
- Quieter
- More comfortable
- Better grip in rain and wet conditions
- Slightly lighter steering feel
- Slightly easier acceleration straight of the line
- More efficient (+/- 1% less battery consumption per trip)
Cons:
- Steering feel and response are less direct
- Grip during hard cornering is not great
- Overall sportiness is diminished
For the daily (very) sporty driver, it may not be recommended, but for anyone outside this category, it is definitely worth considering.

Just replaced Pirelli P zeroes, front and rear on Boxster 718 GTS, with Michelin PS4S . What a difference, it has transformed the ride without affecting the handling. Couldn’t be happier !!!

My tires are now at 5mm and I find the grip on corners very poor. I can feel the tires trying so hard to grip the road. A few times my traction control was coming on. These tires are good for the first 2,000/3,000 but then not. Also heavy breaking the tires don't grip. I will not be buying these tires again.

I had a blowout with this tire on my new Tesla model 3 after 6000 miles.
For me no Pirelli Zero ever more.

Writing about the Bridgestone Potenza Sport
rated 80%
I had already reviewed this tires in my early mileage and now im going to do my second review about them.
After almost 15.000km i can say that they are really noisy compared to my previews Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Although they are better at weat roads and you will feel the difference.
I´m doing this second review because i have an important point that i need to mention:
If you have an electric car you will notice a huge increase at your consumptions. My normal consumption(with the PS4S) was 202wh/km and now i´m having 230wh/km with the same drive behavior. Thats more 3kwh per 100km. (its like having a heater working all the time). The tires are amazing but choose ones with less rolling resistance if you have an electric vehicle.
Regards

These replaced a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S with 25k miles heading towards the wear limit. Despite being new, they feel far less secure than the tires they replaced.
Understeer at roundabouts, sudden grip loss mid-corner (both ends at the same time, so at least that was balanced). Always feel insecure when it's damp.
I'll grant that it's winter and they're a summer tire, but all season tires aren't an option for company car drivers in the UK and it's not that cold. It's the fact that they're so much worse than the Michelins that means I wouldn't consider another set.

Writing about the Bridgestone Potenza Sport

I always had my cars on UUHP tires from Michelin, GY, Conti, and Bridgestone over the past 20+ years. This year I opted for Potenza Sport and I really love them. I can see that I made the right choice - the grip is simply relentless and fantastic feedback from the tires. Aquaplaning is also fantastic, considering how much faster I was able to push the car with confidence on autobahn during the pouring rain. Straight tracking is precise and the car is completely responsive to every input. Overall they feel like PZERO PZ4, but on a higher level in each discipline. Awesome tires and I recommend them 100%

Writing about the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S
rated 79%
These tires came with the car and to be fair to them, they are very good. Only at the end of life did the all wheel drive with 400hp or so break traction. Cornering was very precise, confidence inspiring in the wet and dry. Even in the cold they performed well. They lasted 25k by rotating them half way. Mine were the acoustic type with a foam band inside. I felt this made zero difference and some report problems getting a repair. I repair my own with tire strings and had no issues with further loss of pressure. The problem I have is justifying £800 for a new set where the tire I have gone to is £160 a set and certainly doesn't have a quarter of the performance. From previous experience the cheaper brand last longer, perform to at least 75% of the Michelin and since I don't tend to drive like an utter t*t I haven't oranges a car in over 25 years.
