Nokian WeatherProof shows a clear winter-biased all-season character: consistently strong on snow and often competitive in aquaplaning and rolling resistance, but regularly mid-pack to weak in dry and wet braking/handling. It gathered multiple podiums and several test wins earlier in its lifecycle, with especially strong snow performance underpinning good overall rankings despite braking deficits on warm, wet, or dry surfaces.

Across 27 tests (avg position 4.7), patterns repeat: top-tier snow braking/handling and low rolling resistance offset by below-average wet and dry stopping distances. Awards and podiums (including test wins in 2015 and 2016) confirm capability, but more recent braking shootouts highlight widening gaps to newer all-season competitors in dry/wet safety metrics.

With an identical balance of qualities to its full winter brother, the Nokian WR D4, the Nokian Weatherproof is the strongest snow tire on test, but slightly behind the best in the wet and dry.

The new Nokian Weatherproof had a clean sweep in the snow tests, winning the snow traction, braking, circle and handling, even beating the Continental winter tire. The Nokian also managed to be the best in both aquaplaning tests, and scored second in wet braking. The compromise is made in wet and dry handling and dry braking, where the Nokian could only manage fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, but it was never more than 5% away from the best on test.
