SUV and 4x4 Summer Premium Touring Tires Tire Review Highlights

Nokian Rotiiva AT rated 89% while driving a Toyota Tundra DC 2005
Driving on a combination of roads for 35000 average miles
These tires are on a 2wd truck that is used for the whole gamut of truck stuff - towing 3500# camper from Maine to TN, car trailers, towing at the upper limit around locally for construction, heavy (over) loaded, and 20hr drives on vacations. Nice that my size has an XL higher weight rating then norm, so it generally has good
stability at all speeds. Have had Firestone Wilderness AT and General Grabber AT previously - liked the Firestone for the first 1/2 of tread, but wet traction and hydroplaning performance diminished quickly afterwards. The Grabber wet traction did not diminish as quickly nor as badly as the Wilderness, but handling was noticeably squirmy especially when new. The Rotiiva AT so far is better than both - wet traction is still good, and hydroplaning remains a non issue. Winter criteria is better than any AT I’ve used yet. First set with no flats - lucky or Kevlar??!! Will be on short list to buy again if still available.

Pirelli Scorpion rated NAN% while driving a Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2,0 280 hp
Driving on for 0 miles
It is not a review YET, but this might help others considering the tire anyway but lacking the information on their performance. I could not find reviews or ratings of Scorpion anywhere. On this site there was an almost two years old press realise which sounded good, that was all. Not counting one skimpy review. Breakthrough....a major Pirelli dealer in Poland told me that this is essentially the same tire as new Cinturato P7C2. They came on the market at the same time....P7C2 for cars and Scorpion for SUVs. This information was confirmed by Pirelli's German customer service. Cinturato P7C2 has great reviews....also on this site. So I bought them for my Alfa Romeo Stelvio. I wanted a good noise, wet, and comfort ratings. Already have them mounted but still riding on winter wheels for another month or so. Will report later my thoughts on them.

Kumho KL33 rated 50% while driving a Audi Q5
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
These tires came OEM on my 22 Audi Q5. They only lasted 15k miles before being replaced despite regular rotation. Additionally the company was unresponsive and unwilling to stand by their warranty. If you are looking to buy a new Audi check the tires carefully as they seem to be cheaping out on OEM tires lately.

The dry traction and responsiveness was good. Braking on dry surfaces was good.

Performance in rain was just ok overall. Braking and traction was good initially but began to deteriorate as treadwear increased. By 4/32” wet performance when braking was poor.

Even when new performance in light snow was marginal at best and poor in heavy or compacted snow. By the end of the tread life rhe tires were unsafe in light snow.

Performance on gravel and compacted dirt driveways was ok when dry and marginal when wet.

Road noise was good initially but became noticeably worse as the tread wore down.

Bottom line this was not a good set of tires and I do not recommend them and I hope Audi receives enough complaints to change their OEM to a quality supplier.

Bridgestone Dueler HT 684 rated 50% while driving a Mazda 121
Driving on a combination of roads for 12000 average miles
Have these on my Mazda CX5, and I have to say since I changed I can't wait to get them off. The car is unstable in wet conditions whilst cornering even an low speed, its that bad by ESP comes on as it loses grip. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Yokohama BluEarth RV02 rated 76% while driving a Nissan
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 average miles
Have a 2016 Nissan Qashqai shod with them. Stark contrast to the Goodyear's I had on a Toyota Rush which was pretty lethal in the rain and one had to keep ones wits about them when driving fast in the dry. That said, the Yokohama's do appear to wear easily in comparison which I would attribute to a softer compound.

I will however be considering the Yokohama's again when they need replacing which will be in the new year. I may consider another make if they have similar stats but a longer life, otherwise happy with the tires overall performance.

Bridgestone Dueler HL 33 rated 60% while driving a Lexus Rx450h
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 average miles
The only good point of those tires is the wear. They last a long Time because they are hard AF.
The grip is not bad, but they are noisy unconfortable and they are lacking precision.

Those are definitely not the best of bridgestone.

Toyo Open Country AT plus rated 80% while driving a Honda
Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 average miles
Bought the car with a mismatch of weird tires on each corner and it felt and handled weirdly. Did a bit of research and found the Toyos closest to my needs. Instantly the handling was much better but took around 50 miles to get around that new tire understeer. The noise is noticeably less than the old tires and the grip is amazing. The crv is normally FWD until a front wheel slips and then the rear diff kicks in and goes 4x4 but since fitting these tires and using them in heavy wet conditions on grass/ mud I haven't felt the rear kick in at all which shows how much grip they have. Road use is very good with much less noise than the last tires and handling in wet and dry is above average and inspires much more confidence. On country roads, I can hit a quite deep puddle and it ploughs through it with no problem. The other plus is the rugged design, in the UK country roads are plagued with potholes at the side of the road, these tires just plough through them and over time I have gone from wincing and expecting to put on the spare to having full confidence in the TOYO's ability to traverse them effortlessly. So far I have only used them in wet/mud/ country lanes and they excel but looking forward to trying out that three peak-rating in the snow, I suspect I won't be disappointed.

GT Radial Savero SUV rated 47% while driving a Lexus RX 400h
Driving on a combination of roads for 14000 easy going miles
14000 mls over 20 months. Mixed usage almost all on tarmac. Did not inspire confidence, car felt harsh and skittish, very noisy on poorer surfaces. Tram lined badly. Wear seemed worse than I expected too, the fronts were down to about 3-4 mm after 14000 mls. Rears are 6 mm, I’d be looking at at least two tires by the next MOT in 4 months. Got a puncture in O/S/F on Friday 13th (!) and predictably enough it was right on the shoulder, so not repairable. I decided to go for two premium brand tires with N/S/F to spare, nearly £300, but just grin and bear it. The car was transformed! Back to the smooth, quiet, luxuriously riding Lexus that I loved ❤️ Handling is so much better, the steering is positive and no longer has the twitchy scrabble over broken surfaces and this is after replacing only two tires! Might just bite the bullet and buy two more Uniroyal Rainsport 5 for the rear, but not this month.
