Premium Touring Summer

Yokohama has revealed its new Advan V61 tire, a summer premium touring tire aimed at midsize to large premium SUVs. Available from February 2025, the tire was developed using AI technology and delivers good fuel efficiency, grip and stability. The V61 is already fitted as original equipment on several Japanese premium SUVs including the Lexus RX and Mazda CX-80, as well as electric vehicles like the Toyota bZ4X. The range will include 17 sizes from 17 to 22 inches.

Initial Impressions

Replacing OEM ContiPremiumContact with ADVAN V61 E+ on my VOLVO XC90 in last winter. It was surprising me that they were noisier and slippery than the old tires, at the very beginning. After about 500 km, they became normal as they should be. Decent dry and wet grip, much quieter than before. The tire expert advised that is because there is oil protection for such new tires; it would affect their general performance in the first month of use. Although the handing is not hard, the sidewall is pretty strong to conquer the kerb. You will feel more confident when you pump up 37+ PSI on the highway.

Initial Impressions

Bought for my Subaru Forester in Thailand, which is used on road early. The grip all round is good including in heavy rain, albeit I'm not driving a sports car or pushing limits. This tires excels in several areas over the OEM Bridgestone HP Sport; Comfort is much better, Noise is noticeably reduced and Economy, noticed a small improvement but not scientifically tested.

These tires produced low-frequency noise on the coarse asphalt with the VW 19" wheel. On par or slightly better in terms of low noise, handling, and braking compared to the Prime 4 that I have taken off. A litter-soft sidewall that is able to suppress the vibration, but it can feel like a litter bumpy ride on uneven road surfaces at 36 PSI. Very good rolling resistance tires, and the mileage from avg. 5.3 liters was reduced to 4.9 liters at a speed of 80-90/KM. Overall, I am happy with the Yokohama Advan V61 E+.
