8 Tires tested

Published finishing positions, with the strengths and considerations from this test. Owner reviews cover other sizes and driving conditions.

1st

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3

+Secure cornering grip with wide margins and stable understeering tendency on snow. Outstanding traction and very safe driving behavior on wet roads. Safe, dynamic handling also in dry conditions.

−Slightly longer braking distances dry, light rolling noise.

2nd

Michelin CrossClimate 2

+Outstanding traction and best braking performance, along with stable cornering behavior on snow. Exceptional braking performance, sluggish but safe evasive behavior on dry roads.

−On snow, relative to traction/braking, somewhat reduced corner grip. Longer braking distances and weak corner grip with slim margins on wet roads. Low inherent damping.

3rd

Giti GitiAllSeason AS1 SUV

+Corner grip, traction, and braking performance on snow are good. Very short braking distances and decent corner grip on wet surfaces, very good grip in dry corners, best rolling comfort.

−Limitations in driving stability on snow-covered as well as on wet curves (oversteering). Inadequate aquaplaning prevention, somewhat unstable in the lane change test, and long braking distances on dry surfaces.

Joint4th

Falken Euroall Season AS220 Pro

+Decent traction, but only superficially good corner grip on snow. Largely good-natured characteristics in wet conditions, very secure grip in dry corners.

−Very narrow limit range in snow-covered curves, sudden under- or oversteering. Sensitive to puddles, somewhat limited aquaplaning protection. Instability in the lane change test.

Joint4th

Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF2

+Safe, predictable cornering behavior with wide margins on snow. Good-natured and stable driving characteristics in both wet and dry conditions.

−Slightly longer braking distances on snow, somewhat limited aquaplaning protection.

5th

Vredestein Quatrac Pro

+Secure, stable understeering tendency on snow, firm, direct, and reliable driving behavior on wet as well as on dry roads.

−Weak braking performance and corner grip on snow, slightly longer braking distances on dry surfaces.

6th

Firestone MultiSeason Gen 02

+Impeccable, reliable, and balanced characteristics on snow. Good-natured properties in wet handling, stable in corners, and very amiable in handling on dry roads.

−Inadequate aquaplaning prevention, somewhat longer braking distances on dry surfaces, quite sluggish steering response, and slightly unstable in rapid lane changing.

7th

Uniroyal AllSeasonExpert 2

+Short braking distances and balanced, safe characteristics on snow. Secure understeering behavior also when wet, outstanding aquaplaning safety.

−Somewhat longer braking distances on wet surfaces, too long on dry roads (downgraded), quite sluggish response to steering commands.

The full test

The evidence behind the verdict

The 2024 Promobil camper van / motorhome all season tire test has tested eight of the best all season tires using a VW Transporter Van (T6.1) fitted out as a camper. The test looked at how these tires perform in various conditions, including snow, wet, and dry roads. Key aspects such as braking distances, traction, and handling were examined to understand each tire's capabilities.

As most tire tests are conducted using a regular vehicle, this test provides insights into the performance of all-season tires on a campervan style platform. Fortunately, not much has changed, with the all season tires you'd expect to work well on a car also working well on a van style motorhome, with the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 and Michelin CrossClimate 2 leading the way.

The surprise of the test was the Giti GitiAllSeason AS1 SUV placing third, ahead of Pirelli, Falken and Vredestein. This is an impressive result for the quickly improving brand, and as the cheapest tire on test it offers some real value.

The final thing to note is that Promobil did not include the Falken EuroAllSeason AS220 Pro in the final results as they tested a pre-production version and at time of publication had not verified the results with retail tires. As the result is around where this tire should be finishing, we have databased it in the overall results.

Dry

As we've come to expect from all season tire tests, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 had a big advantage in dry braking.

Dry Braking

157 ft +23 ft 31 mph
162 ft +28 ft 34 mph
168 ft +34 ft 36 mph

The difference between best and worst was 26% (34 ft ≈ 2.4 Car Lengths). From 80 mph, the Uniroyal AllSeasonExpert 2 would still be travelling at 36 mph when the Michelin CrossClimate 2 had stopped.

Residual speed is calculated from the measured braking distances, assuming constant deceleration; it is not a separate measurement.

The Giti GitiAllSeason AS1 SUV took a surprise win in dry handling, with the new Falken also placing well.
