Mercedes Benz Vito Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Firestone Vanhawk 2 given 73% (215-70-16-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 6000 spirited miles
I fitted these to 2021 Merc Vito 116 SWB.
The stock tires were Continental Vancontact 200, which were well worn by 50k kms.
My first thoughts of the Firestones was that I'd made an awful mistake by having these fitted.
I was almost going to turn around after a few 100km and see if they would replace them with something with better traction.
However as it turns out the break in period for these tires is unusually long, I would say at least 1500km before I felt that these tires gave sufficient grip to be safe.
Now after 10k kms I have either developed a tolerance for them but objectively they offer great grip for me in most conditions and even in heavy rain have delivered good handling characteristics.
If you require good grip and handling straight after fitment then these may not be for you but as a driver with many years of experience with many vehicles and tires I can assure you that after a while these tires will start to feel much better, maybe its a lot of mould release compound trapped in the rubber but I have never experienced such a long break-in period as with these tires.

Writing about the Dunlop Econodrive given 70% (225-55-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 38000 spirited miles
New Vito 160bhp, auto, rear wheel drive, 5 seater, with Dunlop EconoVan tires. The vehicle is used for pleasure only so no heavy loads. Still using tires at 38000 miles. Front tires are still Ok but rear tires are worn out more than the front ones obviously. On dry roads tires behave as expected except the noise.
When wet conditions, entering roundabouts can be dangerous at times as the tire is worn they slide a lot and I mean a lot. From new, I could make the rear slide a bit a I had to work the hard to make that happen. Noisy tires from beginning. When worn out it gets even more noisier and very hard rubber, hence they last that many miles. For the price £150 per tire /value/miles they are pretty good choice as other major brands cost approximately £200 and last around half the miles which is nothing in comparison. Would I buy them again? Yes I would

Driving on for 15 average miles
Read the reviews,
Ordered a set 3 months ago and, they are great tires but do seem to wear ok, did around 15000 miles and nearly on the wear marker , but have to add its an 8 seater Mercedes Vito van with 163 bph so on the traction axle that’s I guess not abnormal…
Great road response, road noises ok.
Would recommend them definitely for the price/ quality.

front treads started tearing of in chunks before tires were halfway. Rear tires split the casing, very dangerous. I can't understand how MB could fit these as OE on their vehicles

Writing about the Vredestein Comtrac 2 All Season given 69% (195-65-16-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 25000 spirited miles
Bought used Vito 110 CDI with some worn summer Pirelli tires and had also one set of winter Sava. Since I hated idea of having two sets for this van, I decided to go with all rounders - all season tires. I was looking for something which might have good value for money ratio, but obviously tests were not positive for many van tires. Since Vito is RWD I knew I needed good traction in rear and Vredestein as brand was always brand which I looked when I was getting tires, but never bought any. This time I decided to give it a chance, and I can say I am satisfied. I can see tires are bit worn, especially since van is 99% on highway, but I hope they will survive up to 50.000 km. I would buy again!

Bought for a Vito to replace the old "van tires". Night and dry difference, and now the Vito is quieter and much more comfortable. Massively cheaper than the other options, but no negatives compared against more expensive tires that I've used. Too early to tell about the wear rates at the moment.

Absolutely awful tire in wet as are all Dunlop’s I’ve had. Dangerous in wet to the point should never be road legal without a warning

These Conti Van Contact 200 fitted to my Mercedes Vito were great in every way.......
For the 20,000 miles or so they lasted.
There is plenty of depth left, but none of the all important grip.
I would definitely use them again, if they were free, but paying full price for tires to last just over one year is just not on.

Had these on an ex demo Vito, 17000 miles, fronts look like they had been round the TT circuit for 6 months, lasted till 22 thou before they were actually dangerous, rears lasted 28 thou.
Were poor in the wet, back would step out on Islands with half worn tires, reasonable ride and fuel consumption, absolute garbage on grass and mud, like grooved F1 tires, aquaplaned alot on motorway.
Replaced with Dunlop van and WAY better, can drive on grass with an empty rear wheel drive van now, got stuck twice with the contis, better on Islands, do not aquaplane, and can feel grip. Will not be buying the contis as they only lasted 22 thou, and shat my pants in the wet on town tarmac, done that on the Dunlops in 2 year and about half worn front, and Scottish tarmac A roads are rough.
