Best Tires for the Alfa Romeo GT 1.9 JTD

I’ve had this for my Alfa Romeo GT Q2 (~200 hp) for three years, now.

They are really good, especially for their price. Really grippy, glued to the road.
While I had them, my driving style changed slightly, meaning that I cruised at 70-90 km/h a lot more than I drove sporty. One thing is that, for curves and turns, I usually maintain that speed. Had no problem whatsoever, the car was always glued to the road, no understeer, no squeaking, nothing.

I can’t exacly tell if the car would be as stable going 120-130 km/h on those same turns, but they are good tires, nonetheless.

For a laidback, normal driving style, they are more than decent.
This is the third summer running them and probably the last.
Don’t know if I’ll buy them again, as I’m thinking of an all season set (Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3, namely - we have them on the other car in the family and they’re superb) or getting a premium set of tires. Will see.

However, again, Debica Presto UHP2 are really good; they give you (a lot) more than you pay for, in my opinion.

Soo, i have the tire for 2000km and so far i am very impresed with grip in wet and dry, before it warms up is bad but after the rubber becomes sticky and unstopable (i always smell burning rubber when i park my car), but the tires have a problem, outer sides are almost gone after 2000km and i eat tham down to the name of the tire, sidewalls are to soft (this are not XL) you can see it on the picture after the first day of use the tire had used marks just above the writing "EAGLE F1" and dont tell me i dont put enaugh pressure in becaus i put more than recomended, and the feedback and dynamic feel compared to Yokohoma Advant Fleva v701 is nonexistant until the tires are pushed well than in that area thay provide good feedback and overall operation, comfort is way better tham Yokohamas, also corner grip is way ahead Of Yokohama tires i used before, one more BIG p
PROBLEM in temperatures between 0-25°c thay work good, but after outside temps reach 30-35°c+ the tire become like a chewing gum and its terible, i enjoy tham alot more on the wet than dry

I drove these for 10k KM's so far.
I fitted these as my "winter set" instead of my old winter tires - so I don't have to rush to replace them for the summer set (Michelin PS5) because I live far form the tire storage.
I've had them fitted since October last year and I'm still impressed mostly by the comfort and how QUIET they are.
I've mostly driven them in the dry and I find the grip adequate. I never felt unsafe in them - especially in hard braking.
In the rain I'd say they drain the water well and provide decent grip, and safe braking.
Didn't test in snow.
Didn't notice any wear so far.
Overall, surprisingly good tire for the price. I paid 64 EUR per tire for 205/55/16 - Made in Poland.
I bought them based on the TireReviews video of all season test in 2023 where they were recommended and in 3rd place ( Thanks John!!).
They remind me of of Michelin CrossClimate - the tread pattern looks really similar.

If they perform well throughout in the next seasons, I would easily recommend them.

Soo i come back, with a tire review after 15000km. My reviewed might be more negative about handling and more positive about wear as i put them on in October and did most driving while road conditions got worse and worse so less grip less wear keep that in mind. The tire was great, comfort gets better as the tires break-in not over bumps but in the corners when you corner really hard at 140kmh they make some vibrating noise witch slowly goes away in few thousand kilometers but not completely, they have about 3mm still left on them its amazing how slowly they wear, and evenly as the manufacturer sayed, my car have a lot of camber specially on the back but the tires wear completely evely only the outside tire is very slowly fading away, i run them with 2.80-3bar in them and i have put them front to back at 7000km and i could feel the difference how the rear lost some grip mabey not the grip but the sharpness, some goes now with the front yesterday i tried doing circles and "8" shaped cornes from left to right without any electric control and i did a lot of wear to outside tires as traction control was not on and on the front i can definitely feel how they lost sharpens Maybe also some grip in the wet, i am angry at myself but those 5minutes were really enjoyable, this tires are very squealy so the noise is definitely not the limit indicator but they reach and go over the limit very progressively with good feedback you can go over the limit all day and remain comfortable in the tire, the grip is almost the same in dry and wet maybe not now in the colder temperatures wet road is very slippery many days.. and they deform a lot under extreme load yesterday my friend watching me stopped me after i got a handle of limits because he saved my rims almost touched the floor so yeah this shows the grip is definitely there even in the wet but you can feel is going down with the wear of the tire. I am recommending this tires to everyone who drives spiritually, also normally but the comfort factor may make normal drivers choose something else, for the money 108€ with work they are very good but not the best.

So far i did around 2000km, and the tires are great, my car is very stiff in general, lowered and have quait some chamber level from the factory, my speeds are usualy from 80kmh to 140kmh on normal roads and 160kmh on highways, so the tire feels great on dry (first few days thay were very loud) and on the wet thay are also very good a bit too good it gives you the confidence that will get you killed, aquaplaning is non existing u to 120kmh, this tire is very good all rounder just its not comfortable at all, the bumps were always problematic in my car but with this tires its even worse witch i dont really mind, thay really lay good on the road as the manufactorer is saying thay are wearing relativly evenly even with my high chamber level, witch means alot to me, to sum it up the tires are sharp but not comfortable, defenitly buy again.

I bought PS5 for my Alfa GT. Perfect all rounder, which still keeps the comfort, but also wouldn't be ashamed if taken to a track day. After 5k KM with them I can say that I'm superbly pleased, and happy to see the life expectancy, plus with the added bonus of keeping the wet performance when close to end of it's lifetime. Also can confirm the wet performance is really amazing, I felt super safe during my speedy highway night drive across Europe in the pouring rain recently. Perfect tire for GT cars in my opinion. Dry grip is confidence inspiring too, and when you overcook the corner it gradually warns you and doesn't snap in loosing grip. Easy to recommend this tire to all driver who want a sporty, but still mostly an amazing road tire (where it will be used 99.9% precent of the time anyway in my case). Did not review the wear as it's still early to tell. Happy Michelin customer. :)

I did 15k KM's on these. Firstly, these cost 42 GBP, I jus had to try them out. When reading the tests, they were done with tires made in germany and rated C/A/69. Nowadays, they are only made in C/B/70 and made in Slovenia or Poland. Mine are from Poland. Dry grip is ok, depends what you compare it to. I will compare to Dunlop Sportmaxx RT, (not RT2). Grip is similar, in the wet they are ok. But they do need to warm up a little bit to achieve better grip in the dry. Not the quietest, but the comfort is reasonable. They wore to 6mm after 15.000 KMs with my style of driving which is spirited, sometimes really hard in the corners (I have my favorite patch of curvy roads to really push). I like that they are progressive, meaning they warn you and start letting go slightly and won't suddenly snap to oversteer or understeer. So overall, I'm not impressed but you cannot argue that for this price you get a decent tire which is not unsafe in any summer conditions.

Excellent budget tires, they grip really good in corners if pushed hard, very quiet on the road however be careful of potholes because they are soft and can be punctured very easily

Terrible!

Have always gone for Goodyear Eagles previously, but bought a new set of alloys that came with a fresh set of P606's mounted... Turns out they're horrible to drive on.

Understeer, extended braking distances, poor road-feedback, road positioning feels ambiguous and skittish...

They'll be going in the bin shortly!

I have bought this budget tires last year. I have choose this one because of price ( around 40 euro / tire ). Before this i was having Continental ContiSport 5. For the price i pay, they are good tires, but cannot be compared with premium tires like Pirelli, Michelin or continental.

Grip on dry surfaces is very good, the tire is soft and if you want to have a sporty style of driving, you will feel that on curves is more than soft. On wet surface, just feels like you're floating. If you catch a summer rain on highway, at 120kmh you don't feel very safe with this tires. The handling is average good, and they are comfortable...

For the price i pay i guess are very good tires.

The worst part, is that that the rim protection is almost inexistent. I have 225/40/18 and last year i have refurb my rims... This spring, i need to refurb it again because as i said the rim protection is almost 0.

I don't know how medium budget tires are, but i guess are similar to this one... so my opinion is that, if you have money choose something premium ( Pirelli, continental, Bridgestone, Michelin ), if not, go with the Tigar. For the price you pay, you will get more than you expect from this tire.
