It has multiple top-tier finishes and wins in 185/65 R15 and similar dimensions (ADAC 2016 P1/16, ADAC 2019 P2/16), plus frequent top-10 placements in large comparison tests (e.g., 9/54 braking 2013, 10/47 braking overview 2018). Wet performance can be competitive in some tests, and value, noise, and rolling resistance results occasionally shine. However, consistency drops in 205/55 R16 where it trends mid-to-lower tier, including a last place in ADAC 2018 (16/16).

The Vredestein Sportrac 5 has good enough braking in the wet, but aquaplanes too easily. Manageability good in principle, but difficult to maintain traction in the rear during sudden maneuvers. In the dry they generally behave confidently and predictably, but again, the rear wheels can too easily go into a skid in an emergency. Average comfort and while the noise level is high it's not enough to be a distraction.

Not making the podium in any of the individual tests puts the Sportrac 5 eighth overall. It felt good in the wet, with a progressive nature and good grip, however any sharpness was lost in the dry. The Vredestein needed just over 5 feet more in the wet, and 7 feet in the dry, and in a close pack that translated to 8th and 9th respectively.

The Vredestein has a very high braking performance on wet roads. Lateral grip is also good, but weaker than the longitudinal. The tire can show a good lap time, but the rear grip sometimes falls away at the limit. On dry roads the tires behave predictably and logically, as well as quiet. In general, it is well balanced tire without serious drawbacks

The Vredestein was the fastest on a wet track due to high lateral grip and excellent maneuverability. Braking performance, however, is not as impressive, plus the Vredestein aquaplanes too quickly. On dry roads the tires confidently hold grip in tight turns and do not lose it, even in the most extreme situation. Comfort and efficiency - average.
