Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

The GT Radial ClimateActive presents itself as a budget-friendly option that avoids any serious weaknesses across the performance spectrum. This tire demonstrates that affordable doesn't necessarily mean compromised, delivering competent performance in all conditions without standing out in any particular discipline. Dry road manners are predictable with acceptable handling and braking, while wet performance remains reassuringly stable if not exceptional. Snow capability provides adequate security for winter driving needs. The GT Radial maintains reasonable comfort levels and acceptable noise characteristics. While it shows slightly extended braking distances on wet roads and somewhat less precise handling on dry surfaces compared to premium options, the tire never feels dangerous or unpredictable. For practical-minded drivers seeking dependable all-season performance without premium pricing, the ClimateActive delivers honest capability.

Top 3 GT Radial ClimateActive Reviews

Given 91% while driving a Vauxhall Corsa (195/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
Only had them on about a month at this point, but have covered 1000 miles with no wear showing at all, handling is good, if a little vague, not as much road feedback through the wheels as its predecessor. In heavy rain and mud these tires perform really well, as I’ve come to expect from GTRadial tires, the dry handling is similar in my experience to the Michelin Crossclimate 2, although I do find the Climateactive to be a more comfortable tire in comparison over bumps and road imperfections.

The tire is slightly noisy when cornering, but not enough to be an issue, just more noticeable then its predecessor and the cross climate 2s.

Given its performance on mud and gravel I have every confidence that these tires will perform well in the snow, time will tell, but so far so very good, as I’ve come to expect from GTRadial, and in fact the Giti family of brands.

Given 86% while driving a Vauxhall corsa sri (195/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 7,000 average miles
Small update on the previous review having spent much more time with the tires now covering over 7000 miles on them, all still very good, have had to do an emergency stop with these tires and they performed better then the cross climate 2s I had on previously, the abs was able to control the stop better instead of just skidding. The tires are wearing at a similar rate in my experience as well, after 7000 probably closer to 7500 miles the tires are on 5.9mm of tread whereas they started on 7.5mm this is from my experience matching the cross climate 2s and given the price difference I’m very pleased with the wear rate, the grip on mud especially when parking in fields is much better, still yet to test in snow and ice.

Given 87% while driving a Dacia (205/60 R16) on mostly motorways for 15,000 spirited miles
Tried these to replace worn Michelin CrossClimate 2, and the car previously had Hankook Ventus Prime 2 (factory fit) on it.

In summer, the GTRadials are just about as good as both the Michelin and Hankooks. In winter, particularly on ice, the CrossClimates were marginally better. The Hankooks were much worse, of course.

I'm very pleased with the GTRadials, I have no complaints at all, they inspire confidence all year round. I'll certainly be buying them for the other car, VW ID.5

Initial Impressions Review
Given 83% while driving a Fiat 1.2 16V (215/55 R18) on for 2,500 miles
I fitted this tire on a new Fiat 600 hybrid, straight at car delivery, replacing the OE summer Goodyear's. I therefore have no benchmark compared to the summer OE's.
Fitted in early December, i had the chance to drive them on dry, wet and also some snow due to latest weather conditions.
the tire was superb in all levels of grip. it is also very quiet and comfortable, despite the 18 inch and (relative) low aspect ratio.
Handling is soft and with delayed response, but i attribute this more to the car overall soft suspensions and chassis settings, rather than the tire itself.
A very good tire at a fantastic price point. And apparently the press agrees with me.
Well done GT!
