Volvo V70D5 Tire Review Highlights
Surprisingly good tires, both on dry and wet roads, I've never had a problem with braking, skidding, or aquaplaning. I can only recommend them.

Replaced all 4 tires on a Volvo V70 D5 with Avon ZV7. No issues at all with how they drive, both with a driver only or 4/5 passengers & a full load. However, after just 6 months & 11k miles I noticed the front tires were wearing at a significantly faster rate in the centre than the outer edges & rear tires. Having had them checked at a tire centre, I was advised that they are wearing in the centre due to motorway driving. Centres 3mm, inner & outer edges 5mm & rears 6-8mm (hardly worn really). Tire pressures have always been monitored. Having read other reviews, it appears that these Avon's have a soft tire wall which seems to struggle to bear the weight of a heavy diesel engine. The tire depot had no other advice than to just let them wear out & replace them! Really disappointed, as expected to get 20k miles out of the fronts & a lot more from the rears (I may achieve this). Previous Good Year, although more expensive, lasted 20k+ on the front. Wouldn't put Avon's on a diesel car again - will look for another mid-range alternative.

Have these tires on my Volvo V70 D5 2wd manual. Have drivin about 30000km on them. Got them installed when I bought the car, used when I test drove the car at first It had worn michelins, they where much softer and as I remember less noisy and more comfortable. At that test drive I did not drive aggressively so I cannot comment on the feel on the old tires but they lacked a lot of grip. The Premium contact 6 hooks to the ground really good pulling away in dry or wet. But I feel a lot torque steer and sensitivity to tracks or unevenness in the road. When you launch or drive aggressively the tires hook really good but demands a lot of the driver in terms of holding the wheel and react to unevenness in the road. I would like a more forgiving tire. Tire wear is bad (wearing fast(, but the wear pattern is very good wearing evenly. Reason I bought the tire was I was so happy with the grip, comfort, performance and wear life (60000km) om my Premium contact 5 I had on the previous car. I do not think I would by the same tire again I will try out a new tire, not because of the cost per km and the nasty jerks in the wheel I get.

I've had two sets of Blizzaks now. The first set came free on a set of wheels, and were fairly dreadful. I put this down to them being quite old, got rid of them, and carried on with life. I've just picked up another set as they came up at a good price, and I honestly wish I hadn't. They are extremely poor in anything that isn't a bone dry, cold scenario. As winter tends to be cold and wet, these tires are useless. I'm actually hoping they wear out quickly so I can put something good on the car.
Pros:-
- fine in the dry
Cons:-
- wet weather performance is biblically poor
- they're noisy as balls
- fuel economy is worse by 5-10%
All in all, avoid at all costs.

I drive Volvo estates (not for a living, nee naar etc…before you ask) and have done for many years in various guises, T5s, D5s etc, not sports cars by definition but more than quick enough to warrant decent tires. When I bought my latest a v70 D5 it was shod with Pirellis, the car handled like a Tesco's trolley, they came off within a week and were replaced with Contis. The Continentals are a fabulous tire, quiet, great grip in wet or dry but lacking in longevity, They were replaced with Michelins, they gave a longer life but were very noisy especially under heavy cornering, they also lacked the feel and the confidence the Contis gave, so just the fronts were taken off early and replaced with these Goodyear Eagle F1s. They now have been joined by a set on the rear. I am very happy with them as they are almost as good as the Contis performance wise, they are quiet and grippy and seem to be lasting much better than anticipated. Will definitely re-shoe the Volvo with these again.

My supplier fitted this complete pile of crap - He says they have stopped making the Enduro 916 which is a fantastic tire in all conditions. This is terrible - fitted October replaced December.no chance of buying again. DO NOT BUY

I Agree with all the negative comments. They are dreadful. But what do you expect for £50 each though? Yes they are noisy, give a poor ride and grip and they seem to lose their pressure quickly. I have not had any issues though with cracks or de-lamination and that's after 10K miles in a heavy front wheel drive estate car. The only saving-grace is that they never seem to wear out. I think they must be made of concrete or some other material generally not used for tire manufacture. If they ever wear out, and i hope they do, I can then justify replacing them with a decent set of tires.

I just can't get as excited about these tires as other reviewers. They wear well (5mm left on the front after 9K miles) but I just don't feel safe on them. I've been doing some long motorway runs recently and felt them drifting a bit on those long curves around Birmingham. There is no tread left and I'm left with three continuous smooth ribs running round the centre of the tire. The only visible tread pattern are the serps on the shoulders. I'm going to ditch them and put on some "grippy" Pirelli P Zero Asimmetricos. I used to feel safe on these tires on my old T5. OK they scrub out pretty quickly but it's a small price to pay to feel secure especially with the family onboard with a full load rolling down the French Peage in the Summer.
