Best Tires for the Volkswagen Bora tdi

I had the tires on my 2005 diesel vw bora for over 6 years. Ran them all year both in the city, during cross-Europe trips and in severe winter conditions. They wore well (put around 50.000 km on them). They made my car snap oversteer twice, once on wet pavement, once on dry pavement while breaking in a corner at about 70 km/h. They seamed to sit on the sidewall for a while before gripping in a reassuring manner on dry pavement.

DO NOT BUY . 1100 MILES OF DRIVING AND NEED REPLACED . I drive a 2002 vw bora 1.9tdi . No wheelspin , no fast driving , no chucking it round corners . Bought 4 June/ July 2018 . Fitted onto new wheels 5th August 2018 . It's 26th Sept 2018 and I now need to go replace the two front tires. Already down to tread wear indicators. £72 ish per tire I paid . Would have been better off with part worn tires . Would have lasted longer .

I purchased these tires as i had some budget constraints and couldnt really afford to go with anything else, prior to these i had Goodride SV308 which was not a great tire, a friend of mine told me to try the Linlong's as he was also using them so i gave them a shot expecting a mediocre tire and instead i was pleasantly surprised..the car changed dramatically, cornering was now excellent, overall ride quality much softer and there was considerably less noise while on the highway, The roads here in Chile are terrible but these tires have surprisingly escaped intact from some pretty vigorous driving and potholes. my car is lowered on H&R Sports suspension and the ride quality remains comfortable. havent really tried them in the wet as it doesn't rain often here. overall very happy with the purchase and performance of these tires.

Great tire for the money and excellent in the wet/slippy greasy roads

when I first bought these tires, they were so much quieter and grippier than the continentals that were on the car but after a while I noticed how fast they were wearing, i do drive the car fairly hard and found the sidewalls far too soft for quick cornering especially on a heavy front ended front wheel drive diesel. They also seem very prone to leaking a few psi which again increases the sidewall flex. Ive had better tires that cost less. The car hasnt got any worn bushes or poor geometry either

While my car, a 130bhp VW Bora Diesel, isn't really going to test the limits of what's possible with tires, I daren't buy cheap tires - So I shelled out a relatively acceptable fee for a set of Proxes T1-R about a year ago.

I fully accept that I haven't picked the best tire for longevity on a 21,000 mile per year commute - but seeing as I've lasted nearly a full year on these tires I'm not going to complain.

They definitely have their drawbacks - the tread pattern isn't very quiet, and now they're getting below 3mm, the noise is transferring into a dull roar at motorway speeds.

In the dry, the grip from T1-Rs is second to none, they hang on well after the floppy comfort suspension of a 12-year-old family hack would rather they didn't. Their grip in the wet starts off well enough, but predicatbly they start struggling when they're getting low - as I'm finding out now.

These tires also struggle massively in snowy/icy conditions. I know they never claim to be a winter tire, but I found myself stuck in polished snow twice last winter.

The bottom line is: my next set of tires aren't going to be proxes, because I want a set of tires that last a bit longer, and are a bit quieter - but if I had a more... car-ish... car then I would order my next set of proxes ASAP!

Use for 32000 miles. All bold on edges. Been swapped front / rear twice still have 4 mm in the main area. Could do with more grip and that's with a 100 bora tdi bora, the torque over whelks the tire when cornering and on the go pedal. Not to bad a tire , but for a budget tire , I was told they are. Weaker on the edges.

im suprized for the gain i got compared with the cost, excelent tire, in wet weather i do not push my luck i drive normaly, for the dry they are excelent, when they are loosing the gri you'll hear them squeal so that is an excelent sign to loosen up a bit :D

these came on a car I bought, took it for a drive over the pennines on holiday and the road surface was slightly damp. after a straight there was a slight bend in the road, I was doing well within 'comfort zone' driving and the whole car fish-tailed accross the road with these. also noticed the traction control kicking in under acceleration. as soon as I got home they came off and a set of bridgestone turanzas went on, never had any further issues!
