BMW 530i M Sport Touring Tire Review Highlights

Wasn't told by the tire shop that they were summer tires, so that's partly to blame - but terrible regardless.

Grip is non existent if below 5 degrees or so, meant to be used above 7 degrees only, but even then they're poor. Stuck the back out on a roundabout lightly accelerating when temps were about 12 degrees.

In the wet theyre just as bad. Its now almost summer and wheels span in the rain whilst accelerating on the motorway.

Been on for about 50 miles and im already going to replace them.

Side note - just me in the car - wouldn't even use them temporarily with the kids in it. Surprised they've even passed safety standards

From my perspective; couldn't recommend these highly enough. I run winter alloys & tires on my BMW E39 530i Sport touring from late October to generally March the following year and this time I've gone with the AVON WV7s in 235/45/17 fitment, to go on OEM 17" alloys. My family has property in the Scottish Highlands and just for the runs up there in Dec, Jan & Feb; up the M6/M74/M80 and A9 etc; they're worth it just for that! Those roads in those months are generally sodden and cold; and then further up the A9 it can either be just very cold; or icy and cold or fairly well snowed in... Where the property is; just in a small village off the A9; the roads don't get treated & it can be a nightmare (as can the roads that surround us at home; local country B roads that are usually covered in standing water over winter unless it's unusually dry/cold) These tires in Feb 2019 got me down very snowed in roads in the Highlands on my tour trying to find historical manhood stones and it also got us onto the main carpark at the Cairngorm, whereas my fathers XDrive X3 was stuck on its summer tires, spinning... Their drive & feedback is very good; a very smooth and quiet ride for winters; dry handling at speed (if it's a bit warm) can be a bit squishy-feeling; but cold temps they're superb. Wet handing is fantastic and superb grip through standing water etc... As for the wear; I can't comment as I don't don't the mileage

Superb tires; as good, if not better, than the likes of Eagle F1s and PS4s in my opinion. Having gone through various tires in the past on previous BMW saloons 9E38s and E39s); I've always found they can handle very differently on tires; better on premium tires, but not much better than excellent mid-range tires like RainSport 3s and Vred Ultrac Vorti's. I've also found the likes of the PS4s gert very hard and drone a lot when they're through the first 2-3mm of the softer rubber. For me, it's very noticeable and it goes against them. Having run 18 and 19" alloys and tires on my previous BMWs; I've tended to always go for the RainSport 3s or Vreds; unfortunately Uniroyal don't do the rear sizes I want (I run 245/40 and 275/35 18" tires); I could have gone to the tried and tested Nexen N'Fera SU1s, which again, I find to be an excellent tire, about the best of any 'budget' tire out there IMO. But, I wanted to go 'premium' but without the premium price, so I went back to the Vredestein's and do not regret it one jot. Excellent grip both wet & dry, superb handling, a slightly stiffer sidewall, so excellent feedback and smooth/quiet/comfy to boot. Highly recommended

Superb tire, changed from Pirellis and don't regret it for a moment. Local tire dealer recommended these as an alternative, initially I wasn't impressed, not least because I couldn't see how a tire that was sixty pounds cheaper than the equivalent Pirelli was actually going to be better but the guy in the Tire show was insistent and promised a money back refund If I didnt like them...how could I refuse, plus the money saved could be used for a few cases of Hardy's anniversary Rose!
Well to say I was astonished would be an understatement...they were so much quieter! suddenly it felt like I was riding on a magic carpet!... I hadn't realised how noisy the Pirellis were until I tried these, the transformation in handling, road noise and grip, especially in the wet, was simply unbelievable.
Im not generally taking in by marketing blurb, mainly because I work in that industry so know its all a load of codswallop full of catchy bylines and flashy images and besides, a tire is a glorified rubber band at the end of the day, how different can all these brands really be?
Well forget it, the Uniroyal RS3 is incredible value for money, they outperform my Pirellis and actually have a great looking tread pattern that is just the right side of 'not too aggressive but still sporty' all the while complimenting the look of the car

Very satisfied customer, so much so I even dropped off a case of that Hardy's Rose to the guys at the tire shop.

Writing about the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport given 81% (235-45-17-W)
Driving on mostly town for 15000 average miles
I had these on all four wheels of my BMW 530i Touring and I'm about to replace the rear wheels with same again. They lasted about 15000 miles and the fronts are still have good tread.

I can neither rave nor attack these tires but I've no complaints. I don't think I've enough experience to provide a scientific comparison between alternative tires but I've never had a hairy moment in wet or dry, it goes around corners, and it stops in the wet. I've never had the car slide around an island on a wet road for instance, but then again, perhaps I'm not trying hard enough. ABS and traction control help of course, but I am often surprised that I've *not* had a hairy moment even when I've gone into a corner too fast or left my braking too late. I'm surprised in the wet because the 235 is a pretty wide wheel. I guess that's a good sign but as I say, I've not driven this 530 in anger with a selection of tires on test.

I've largely bought Michelins on BMWs before and soft Pirellis on hot hatches briefly when I was younger. The Michelins obviously last better, and at 10K/year I'd probably get at *least* 2 years out of some Michelins on the rear so they'd probably work out better value, but at two significant risks: 1) in that time, there's more chance a tire will be nicked on a kerb and need replacing anyway before it's due, or 2) the car might start sliding around on the harder compound.

So on that basis, I'm going to stick with what I know. The price point is reasonable and the tires do what they say on the tin.
