Falken ZIEX ZE914 EcoRun Reviews - Page 7

Given 89% while driving a BMW 528i SE manual saloon (225/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 12,000 average miles
Very good tires. Relatively hard compound, so they last well. However this longer life does make the tire loose a small amount of wet grip compared to some tires which use softer compounds. The tires are comfortable and give a good ride, but they are not the quietest tires, especially on rougher surfaces. In my size they were around half the price of Michelin Primacy HP but they give similar performance.

This tire is outstanding, perfet tire for a tourin car, not made to be driven on the track, it is a High Class Tire, it can easily compete with Goodyear, Pirelli, Michellin...

Given 74% while driving a Ford Focus (195/60 R15 H) on mostly country roads for 2,000 easy going miles
Very good tires for the money. Dry and wet grip are good and progressive, although ultimate traction isn't as good as the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 I have fitted to my other car. These wear better though. The only other thing I can critisise these tires for is that they are relatively noisy, at least on this car. I would probably buy them again.

Given 93% while driving a Audi A8 (235/55 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 2,000 spirited miles
I have only had the tires for 2000 miles. The previous tires were NEXEN N8000.
The Falkens are more comfortable and quieter in all conditions than the previous tires but also turn in crisper on bends. They don't aquaplane when at speed in standing water, but I should hope not as they still have >8mm of tread. The dry grip is impeccable for normal high speed twisty road driving.
I do not drive in a crazed way so have not had cause to get near the limits yet and car is a Quattro so have to be a bad driver to make a problem.
They have rim protection and a sensible sidewall design. As always, I will do another review when they are doen to 2mm.

Given 94% while driving a Citroën c4picasso (215/55 R16 V) on mostly town for 6,000 average miles
Great tire on my C4 Picasso. I have the 97 Load index ones. Previous tires were Michelin Primacy that lasted only 11000 miles. Done some homework and bought 4 of these. Car is much quieter even with a higher load index, and grip in both wet and dry is excellent. I was so impressed that i also have replaced my wife's Kia Rio with these when the Kumho's shreded after 8000 miles !!!!
Definitely will buy these again for both cars

Given 77% while driving a Peugeot 407Hdi (215/55 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 1,000 average miles
Fitted to a heavy diesel, so progressive factor isn't a priority, just over 1000 miles done in varying weather and road conditions, including very muddy rural roads. No sign of slip, but feedback is such that you know the tires are fighting for grip through the mud. In the wet again acceptable performance, not at the top end, but then nor is the price of the tire. Definitively the quietest tire I have had fitted in a long time, making speed deceptive to control through the noise feedback and not just watching the dials. So far happy with my choice, time will tell if a repeat purchase will happen or not, factors being time span, overall handling as tread wears down and noise.

Given 100% while driving a Peugeot 207 GT (205/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 9 average miles
Great tires. Replaced pirelli p zero nero's which are also great tires but have a firmer ride & throw up a lot of spray in wet weather. Bought the falken 914 ecoruns at over £40 pound a tire cheaper than pirelli's & im well impressed with them, great in the dry & wet, lovely comfortable ride & very quiet, with zero tram lining & tread wear looks like it is going to be good. Car also staying a lot cleaner down sides & back with a lot less road spray in wet weather, rear screen was never clean with pirelli's. From high motorway speed fully laden with holiday luggage to torrential rain on greasy country roads i cannot fauly these tires. Like the pirelli's i have every faith they will stick to the road when cornering hard in both dry & wet conditions

Given 81% while driving a BMW 530i e34 (245/40 R18) on mostly town for 1,000 spirited miles
245/40R18 up front 265/35R18 on the rear.

First off a very firm side walled tire, initially VERY hard ride until broken in after 500 miles or so but understandably helps make the handling extremely responsive. Excellent grip levels, grip, grip and more grip the tire is progressive but in a slip bite kind of way which when pushing hard can spoil the experience somewhat. Dry weather grip level is excellent as is wet weather confidence. After a 1000 miles the wear seems to be reasonable especially considering how hard I drive most of the time.

Overall not as good as the Michelin's they replaced, but at least 35% cheaper, however I would shell out the extra next time as the only real advantage of the Falken's being the alleged improved fuel efficiency.

Given 67% while driving a Toyota T Sport (185/55 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
Fitted these as the first new boots for this car, replacing worn dunlops and horrendous Primewells.

Great in that they are predictable, but they have a distinct lack of dry weather grip. This is probably understandable because they are "eco" tires, but I did not know they were eco tires until I checked the sidewall. No indication was made in the description online anywhere.

Quite surefooted in the wet, and really progressive. Overall probably 7 out of 10, but I want something a little more grippy next time to suit the car.
