Wins count every measurement the shared tests recorded for both tires; a tick marks the tire ahead on that line. Subjective driver scores count as wins but are never averaged, because each test uses its own scale.
Head to head in 20 tests, 2017 to 2026
Each row is one published test in which both tires ran on the same car, in the same size, on the same day. The line is the whole field, winner on the left.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 118 ft stop against 112 ft is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 98%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 4 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

BFGoodrich gForce Winter 2

- 215,300 milesdriven by reviewers
Drivers generally rate the BFGoodrich gForce Winter 2 very highly, with repeated praise for confident traction on snow and ice and strong wet-weather performance with good aquaplaning resistance. Many also highlight excellent value for money, stable behavior in harsh winter conditions, and generally good comfort/quietness for a winter tire. A smaller set of reviews note compromises on dry roads, describing softer handling, reduced steering/on-center response, and occasional higher noise depending on speed and surface.
- Excellent snow traction
- Strong ice grip for a studless winter tire
- Very good wet grip and aquaplaning resistance
- Great price-to-performance/value
- Dry grip/handling is only average (softer feel, more roll than summer tires)
- Reduced steering feedback/on-center response compared with other tires
- Some report increased noise on certain surfaces/speeds (wet roads or above ~90 km/h)

All 30 gForce Winter 2 reviewsI'm using on a Dacia Duster. Before, for winter, on this car I had Michelin Latitude Alpin 1 and Kleber Krisalp HP3 (same as Bf Goodrich). The snow grip was very good for 4 winters (same as Kleber), never let me down. The wet grip was also very good. But what surprised me a lot, was the emergency braking, that was very very good, on wet and dry. The only minus, was that I need to make some corrections on the directions compared with a summer touring tire (michelin primacy 3 or hankook), but the care never lost control with those tires, even if I drove too fast for it. In conclusion I will buy again (bf goodrich or kleber, in function of price).
Kleber Krisalp HP3
- 84%from 36 reviews
- 71%would buy again
- 459,168 milesdriven by reviewers
Most drivers rate the Kleber Krisalp HP3 highly, praising its strong snow and wet performance, low noise/comfort for a winter tire, and decent wear/value. Dry grip and handling precision are adequate for normal driving but can feel soft with noticeable understeer if pushed; several users report a 'jelly/boat-like' feel. A minority mention noise at certain speeds, vibration/manufacturing issues in specific batches, and weaker performance on ice or slush at higher speeds. Overall sentiment is positive with safety and winter capability as standout strengths.
- snow traction and braking
- wet grip and aquaplaning resistance
- low noise/comfort for a winter tire
- good wear and value
- soft sidewalls/boat-like feel; weak handling precision when pushed
- dry grip/cornering weaker vs summer tires
- ice/slush performance can be limited at higher speeds

All 36 Krisalp HP3 reviewsGreat snow and ice grip, much better than any winter tire i had before.
Good durability as well. Dry grip is fine, wet grip not as much and must be kept in mind. Not very noisy for a winter tire either. Would buy again if they are on discount.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
Two closely related winter specialists from Michelin's stable go head to head: BFGoodrich g-Force Winter 2 versus Kleber Krisalp HP3. Across 18 shared tests from 2017-2025, both consistently excel when temperatures plunge, but they trade blows on price, wet balance, and refinement. The BFGoodrich positions itself as the sharper all-round winter performer with stronger wet security and durability, while the Kleber leans into value and fuel economy without losing its snow-first character.
Recent big-field results underline the pattern: in Auto Bild 2025 (225/40 R18), BFGoodrich placed 12/22 to Kleber's 14/22, edging dry and wet braking and comfort, while Kleber fought back with marginal wins in wet circle, curved aquaplaning, and snow braking/traction. In the 2024 and 2023 tests, BFGoodrich repeatedly gained ground in wet braking and handling and often wore slower, whereas Kleber kept costs down and remained highly competitive on snow and aquaplaning.
Conclusion
Overall, BFGoodrich g-Force Winter 2 is the safer bet for mixed winter use: it dominates wet braking (11 category wins vs 3), holds more wet-handling wins, and typically delivers better wear and lower rolling resistance, giving confidence on slushy motorways and variable shoulder seasons. It also posts more test wins overall (13 vs 3) and frequently scores higher in comfort and consistency across sizes.
Kleber Krisalp HP3 counters with compelling value and thrift. It more often wins on sticker price and value metrics (7 category wins vs 1) and keeps pace on snow, occasionally topping snow braking in recent tests. For buyers in reliably snowy, mountainous regions who prioritize price and strong snow safety-and can accept slightly longer wet stops at times-the Kleber is a smart, economical pick.
Practical takeaway: choose BFGoodrich for broader winter security and longevity in mixed conditions; choose Kleber to maximize value in predominantly snowy climates without breaking the bank.
