Best Tires for the Ford Transit Custom

Wet grip would be comical if it weren’t dangerous. Diesel van spin up tires in 3rd gear when pulling away or accelerating. On a corner just a little too much (or too little) accelerator can have you under steering. Would add that the van didn’t do any of this on Goodyears fitted previously. Can’t wait to get them replaced but being a lease they won’t do it until less than 2mm of tread. It was dangerous in the wet with 7mm when new so that should be fun.

Good winter tire compared to others from the "cargo" category. Good on snow, so far. Soft rubber helps during cold tempertures. Even chains are fitting good. For now no need of chains in real condition, never got stuck till now. I'm living in the mountains and i would buy them again. I'm using it for my famaly van without heavy loads, for this the wear is really good after two seasons. They seem new.

I'm on my 2nd set of these tires and i must say for the price thay are brilliant the price is over half what you would usually pay I won't be buying any other tire from now on

Fitted at 65k miles. Transformation. Now at 115k... still looking good. Awesome. Agree with the other reviews, plus want to say they last astonishingly well (UK)

Compared to Continental Vanco 2 I can say that these tires feel much softer with better feeling and more comfortable with less noise. Possibly a bit less fuel consumption as well. Very good grip and nice to drive in the dry, also fine on gravel. Average grip on wet tarmac but, importantly, still giving good feedback. Seems like they wear somewhat more than the super-durable Contis, but for me, driving maybe 20000 km a year, better comfort and handling are well worth it. Also they cost less.

I've got the 8 ply commercial version on a XLWB Ford Transit and driven 15000 miles on them in under a year with little wear which is great for an all season. Currently in Eastern Europe driving daily on snow and ice and I'm really impressed. I first used Nexan's on a BMW 330D M-Sport and was really impressed with them in the wet. Wet: I had Avon's on the van before which were very unpredictable in the wet. They'd only been on the van a year so barely worn, but in the wet there was no warning which is why I changed them. The Nexan's solved that problem. I'm still cautious due to how the Avon's performed, but so far I've not had this issue with the Nexan's after 10 months. Dry: It's a van so cant say much for dry performance. Fuel: On multiple 2000 mile trips across Europe, fuel consumption between the Avon's and Nexan's is about the same. 6 fuel stops for both tires. Snow: Amazing. Lots of feel while braking, and steering is great. Front and Rear traction are well balanced with enough feel to be confident and enjoy the drive rather than worry. Any slide is progressive and controllable assuming normal driving speed. I'm honestly surprised how well an all-season does compared to a full winter. Ice: Nothing short of a studded tire is going to work well on ice, but so far I've not got stuck on ice with the Nexans unlike the Avons. Moderate inclines are no problem, but I've not attempted from a standing start. On my drive with ice - not a problem unlike myself that fell. Buy Again: Yes - I already bought a second set of 5 for future use. Summary: For a van, these tires give a lot of feel and confidence. On snow it almost becomes fun rather than stressful as the van is so predictable and controllable.
