Yokohama ADVAN APEX V601 275-35-19- Toyota Supra 500 miles August 23, 2024

I gave into the all the marketing Yokohama did for the V601 on the GR Supra, and I was ultimately underwhelmed. The grip on this tire is great(especially during launch control), however, this tire lacks feedback. For being a street / sports car-oriented tire, these don't do a great job at transmitting road feel to the steering wheel compared to the factory Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Another notable trait of the V601 is a considerable increase in stopping distance. Braking does not feel as confident as it used to and the tires tend to squeal under medium to hard braking. Initial bite when making sharper turns is quite reduced compared to the Michelin and overall, seems to have watered down a great sports car.

They tend to have a very muted on-center feel that results in less confidence and feel when taking a hard corner. I personally will not be running these again when it's time to replace tires. Decent option for a cheaper tire on a larger sized wheel, however I will be looking into other brands of tire from now on.

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 275-35-19- Toyota Supra 25,000 miles February 2, 2024

As a long time Michelin Pilot Sport user ( PSS / PS2 /PS4S ) the new PS5 is a leap forward , I mo longer do track work so stepped down to the PS5 from PS4S.

The Grip in both the Wet and Dry is excellent but the real plus is that there lasted 25k miles. and were at >3mm when i changed them.

The only downer is that they go out-of-round near the end of their life especially on the inside edge of the tire ( and yes the geometry was fine) this is also happening on the front tires as well. so much so it sounded like a wheel bearing was failing. When i rolled the wheel (off the car) on a smooth surface the wheel visibly swayed side-to-side. The higher sports on the tire appeared to be where the tire wear indicators are (3 spots on tire surface).

But this does not distract from 20k+ of fantastic grip.

Nankang NS2R 315-30-18- Toyota Supra 2,000 miles January 14, 2024

315/30R18 (200tw) on the rear and 265/35R18 (180tw) on the front. 600 WHP Toyota Supra. I was pleasantly surprised with these tires. I wasn't expecting much given the price tag but they have performed better than expected. Started them at 40psi all around but have since dropped to 35psi on the front and 32 psi on the rear, this seems to be their happy spot for my car (1550kg) on good roads. I initially just got them to make sure I could fit a 315 on the rear (rims are 18x11) but I did also want to see if they were going to be a viable tire that I could thrash on. They take abuse very well and are lasting way better than expected. Downsides are the road noise and comfort which is to be expected. The straight line grip is NOT as good as I hoped for given the massive 315 in the rear, but lateral grip is good. When they do lose traction I found it to be quite predictable and very user friendly. These would suit an endurance event, drifting or even daily driving as long as you don't mind the high noise levels at highway speeds. I have not used them in the cold as I live in a very warm climate in Australia. The guys from Apex use them a lot on the Nürburgring for their cars, if it's good enough for them then I would say they are decent tires.

Above the level of grip
Steering and road feel feedback is above the level
Focus on endurance and stability. Even after running 30 laps in Dapeng Bay, it still did not fade.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 225-45-17- Toyota supra turbo 4,000 miles December 28, 2022

Having replaced my ageing Continental Premium-contact 6's and looking over the reviews decided to buy some Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5's from reviews. Absolutely no issues with performance but the tire life sadly is not good - mine lasting a mere 4500miles (I cover 1000miles/month) so very disappointed as how soon I need to replace them. In hindsight looking at my records I did put these similar model Goodyear tires on 10-15 years ago and they also lasted a mere 4000 miles back then - I obviously forgot to check my history! So back to Continentals! The fronts are F1 V6 and to be fair are looking almost new so cant complain there.

The tires were fitted to a vehicle with no MOT & a SORN in place. The O/S rear deflated having only done 4 miles. I took the tire to be repaired, & was told the side wall was leaking. NOT ROADWORTHY. BUY THESE TYRES AT YOUR PERIL.

Currently running a set of these on me 1996 single turboed supra (450hp@wheels) with excellent grip on a sunny day! Tight but smooth cornering with lots confidence! very predictive when maneuvering in & out of apexes, breathtaking performance all round! would definitely recommend them to me mates! but hard to find them thru dealers somehow though :/ love to grab a handfull this summer!

Good dry tire but bad in the wet, I got in serious trouble on a bend and fell it under normal driving, will be changing to Uniroyal rainsport 3 tires to get good wet grip

Toyo R888 315-30-18-W Toyota supra turbo 25,000 miles June 6, 2018

This tire is amazing for an every day road tire and the occasional track day. It warms up almost instantly and puts the power down well. When it rains I have very little worry as I can still put down all 600whp, stop extremely well and be very confident in the corners, weather its sliding or gripping. Most other semi slicks I have used recently are just down right scary when it comes to wet weather.
I can't think of a better semi slick road tire for the price.

Falken FK453 275-40-17-W Toyota supra turbo 5,000 miles January 19, 2017

Past 20years i have been through a wide range of tires on my turbo cars but it's the first time i have been impressed with a budget street tire.
On my mildly modified supra (400hp) they perform much better than i expected.
Biggest suprise is how much grip they had in the wet. The grip in the wet is nearly as good as in the dry (straight line acceleration). And for a wide tires they aren't unsettled by big puddles of water on the freeway. Everything else i've had in a 275 width would aquaplane badly.
Highly recommended and will buy again.
