I have been using Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 225/40 R18 Y (92) and I am very impressed. In dry summer conditions tires are very similar to Michelins PS4, I have used before. Michelins were slightly sharper and precise, but Goodyears provide better feedback on the limit, better comfort and less noise. Wet summer conditions: great traction and predictability. Cold conditions: I could always rely on Goodyears even in sub zero temperatures. Last two points, fuel economy: not as good as MPS4, but still very good. Rim protection: the best I have ever seen. To summarize, I was looking for predictable, comfortable and quiet tires with great wear and thanks to Jonathan I found superb all round set for me - Goodyear F1 Asy5.

I drive a Kia pro ceed crdi tuned to 150hp.Tried this tire snd kept it for a year cause I went with a 18inch rim(looking for 225/40/18 tires as I am composing this message). Not so happy with it....
There were some cases where I had the abs engaged when it shouldn't do so.No slippery surfaces,no wet.Just bone dry.I have a feeling that they do need to get heat pretty well before they start gripping....I am not saying it's not a good tire. It's just not what I was looking for.The wear rate is really slow, so this tire can last a lot of kms.So far I 've done 15.000kms and there is 3/4 of thread left for sure.
I look for a softer and grippier tire.Maybe I will give a shot to it's bigger brother, the f1 supersport.I hear it has a stiffer sidewall making it much more steering responsive and along with it's softer compound it might be grippier.
My other choices are continental pc6 and Michelin ps4.They do have softer compound rubber as well as sidewall(which I don't like because it deprives the steering responsiveness)

Over the past 10,000 miles I've run these for, I've found them to be very responsive in both wet and dry conditions, good feedback throught the steering wheel and very predictable handling. Really good wear, I often drive very hard, and they're still nearly new! Only downsides I've found are they are quite a noisy tire, both noticed inside and outside the car, and they are fairly hard when on bumps.

Just bought 4s GY Asymmetric 5XL this spring for my 5 Series, in 225/50-17, was a hard decision when I started to look for tires but after reading the reviews from your site and look at test results, GY was the only option. Maybe I would take into consideration the PS4 also, but as they not available in 17'... the minus for Conti was the price and the reviews of the PC6 from the website. Most of the users were disappointed about the wear of them and mm of the "meat". I did a few thousand miles with GY, and I am very happy with the decision. They are silent, very good grip in both dry and wet conditions(caught some summer storms on the highway, at speed, and I felt very comfortable and safe with this.
In the past I also had GY Efficient Grip on an F20 118d, for 2.5 years and 40-45k miles, and I was happy with them also.
What I would like to see more in your reviews is talking about Treadwear. It is a very important characteristic for tires, especially for UHP. The GY that I bought have treadwear 300, which is a pretty big number for a UHP tire, most of them have 180 to 240 treadwear.

I purchased these tires on reviews & good price.
What a big mistake.
The tires are very comfortable but that is where the praise ends.
These tires are shocking when i comes to feedback, they wobble when changing direction at any speed above 40 mph. It feels as though they are under inflated or almost flat & actually quite dangerous when changing direction.
I think they are either faulty of have very soft side walls & that is with the extra load spec. I have run them over inflated to over 40 psi with no difference in handling just a more choppy ride.I have contacted Goodyear with my concerns & their response is that the tires are not star marked for bmw cars, which basically means i should not have them on my car as bmw don't recommend them. I was told to take the tires off and send them in to be checked, sure no car for weeks as they take a look at them and send them back with saying nothing wrong with them, don't think so.
No way would i by Goodyear tires again i'll stick to Michelin thanks. Tires are now off the car as can't go the understeer / oversteer feeling every time i turn into a corner.

Perfect all round tires in almost every situation. They're very good in the dry with significant reduction in spinning the rear wheels out of junctions and suitably grippy around bends with a bit of throttle which on other tires would push the rear end out. Again, the wet, absolutely amazing tire. Previously had conti contisportcontact 5's which did have issues with grip out of junctions in the wet no matter what the tread depth was and some aquaplaning properties when going slightly too fast.
These are much better! Can carry a higher speed through standing water without even flinching. So far the wear has been good too. The contisportcontact are notorious for premature wear but the Goodyear's seem to be wearing evenly and relatively slowly.
In terms of noise, I haven't noticed any significant difference in noise against the contisportcontact 5. Well recommended tire!

An absolutely brilliant tire. The side wall protector is great which I didn’t realise it had until they were fitted. The wear is very even, which for a BMW, is high praise indeed. The value for money was what swayed it over other brands too. I also like the tread pattern. I highly recommend it you want an all round great everyday road tire

Replaced my Goodyear runflats with this tire and it was a big step up in ride comfort and noise. Grip feels excellent but haven't really pushed them, one thing I notice is that gravel gets thrown up the wheel arches = seems like really sticky rubber. Can only recommend.

After viewing many of Tire Reviews’ You Tube videos, and reviews on other sources, I cannot believe the difference between the Avon ZV7s and GY Eagle F1 asym 5 there is.
Avon’s: Noisy, quite hard (bumpy), ok steering, and more braking distance.
Conversely
GY Eagle F1 asym 5: much quieter, smoother drive, precise steering, better coasting (taking it off cruise control and letting run out), less braking braking distance
(I haven’t driven in rain thus far, but by all accounts GY Eagles are better).
All told, it is my ‘subjective opinion’ (anyone whom watches the YT videos will get the reference), so thank you Tire Reviews for your honest opinion, and for helping me have a car that’s even more of a pleasure to drive!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

So, I did an initial review after about 5,000 miles. But I have now since taken them off the car to put on another car. In the meantime, I upgraded to 18" wheels on the current car, and have bought another set of Asy5's for that. If that doesn't tell you enough, well I dunno?
Anyway, now I have covered approximately 17,000 miles in the car with the current set of 17" Asy5's. And now they are off the car, I can confirm tread depths across the tires.
On the rear tires, there is 6mm left. On the front, 4mm left. So when they go on the other car, they will be swapped around. I'll expect at least another few thousand miles out them both. Hopefully another 10,000 for the set. I'd be happy with 25k out of a set of tires anyway.
That said, the other car isn't going to be a diesel Focus, rather a Clio 197. So these tires will probably get quite a hard life at the end, so they may not last as long. I will update again when they are finished.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 is really good. I got them in Dec 2019 on my Accord Euro R to replace the old ContiSportContact5 after watching your reviews on them. It is cheaper than Pilot Sport 4, S$130-135/pc for 225/45R17, PS4 is S$155-165/pc here in Singapore. Very fast steering action and good road feel and grip, good in the wet as well. I do not find them to be noisy. Downside, my fuel consumption went up.
