Performance Analysis
Drawn from 8 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.
The Linglong Sport Master 4S is consistently stronger on dry roads than in winter conditions, but usually finishes near the back overall. It was ninth of ten in the 2026 Auto Zeitung test and 14th of 15 in Auto Bild's 2025 test. Dry braking was third of ten for Auto Zeitung in 2026, while dry handling was third of 17 for Auto Bild in 2025. Testers repeatedly praised its dry grip and low purchase price, though Auto Zeitung found its soft sidewalls made it imprecise. Snow traction and handling were repeatedly poor, and aquaplaning resistance and rolling resistance were frequent concerns. In Auto Bild's 2025 test, snow braking was 16th of 17 and rolling resistance last of 17.
There are exceptions. Auto Express measured the tire second of ten in dry handling in 2026 and called it the fastest all-season tire on that course. It also found it unusually strong in snow braking, at fourth of ten, and rolling resistance, at third of ten. Wet braking varied sharply, from second of 12 in Auto Bild Sportscars' 2025 crossover test to ninth of ten for Auto Express in 2026. Comfort also ranged from a joint best rating in the 2025 Sportscars test to ninth of ten for Auto Zeitung in 2026. Tire Reviews awarded it Satisfactory in 2025, placing it sixth of nine and noting good comfort but below-average snow performance.

Strong = top two of the field in that measurement. Weak = bottom two.
2026 Auto Zeitung All Season Tire Test
The Linglong Sport Master 4S finished ninth. Its low purchase price is offset by weak snow and wet results, modest wear and high energy consumption, so it is hard to recommend over the tires above it.
2026 Auto Express All Season Tire Test
The Linglong Sport Master 4S finished seventh, well clear of the last-placed tire but a step behind the mid-field brands. Wet grip is its main shortfall, while its dry handling, snow braking and low rolling resistance are genuine strengths, which makes it a sensible budget option at the lowest price in the test.
2025 Autobild Crossover SUV All Season Test
The Linglong Sport Master 4S presents itself as a dry-condition specialist and offers the highest permissible load capacity among the candidates tested. However, its winter performance raises concerns, with extended braking distances on snow and weaker aquaplaning resistance. These shortcomings in safety-critical areas result in a conditional recommendation, suggesting drivers in regions with harsh winters should look elsewhere.
2025 Auto Bild Sports Car All Season Tire Test
The Linglong Sport Master 4S is the price fighter of the test, offering respectable driving performance on wet and dry surfaces while being the fastest in dry handling among all-season competitors. The tire provides excellent rolling comfort, matching the best in this category. However, it's comparatively weak on snow, making it unsuitable for regions with regular winter weather. Additionally, it's limited to 168 mph (W-rated). For drivers in mild climates who rarely see snow but want all-season versatility at an attractive price, the Linglong represents good value, but winter capability is clearly sacrificed.
2025 Autobild SUV All Season Tire Test
The Linglong Grip Master 4S presents itself as an affordable option with appealing dry road capabilities and good wet performance. On dry surfaces, the Chinese tire surprisingly delivers excellent braking performance, standing out with impressively short stopping distances. It also demonstrates competent wet road behavior with reasonable handling and braking. The tire provides acceptable ride comfort for daily driving. However, this dry-road excellence cannot be replicated in other disciplines, revealing significant compromises. The handling on dry roads, despite good braking, feels somewhat disconnected and vague. More critically, the Linglong struggles noticeably on snow with extended braking distances and uncertain handling that undermines confidence in winter conditions. The relatively high rolling resistance also impacts fuel efficiency. For drivers in mild climates with minimal winter weather who prioritize dry braking performance, the Linglong offers niche appeal at a budget price.
2025 AutoBild All Season Tire Test
The Linglong Sport Master 4S performs as a dry-weather specialist that also handles wet conditions sovereignly, all at an attractive purchase price. This Chinese tire offers surprisingly competent dry handling for its price point, making it appealing for fair-weather drivers. However, its overall weaker performance on snow limits its appeal as a true all-season solution.
The Best All Season Tires for 2025/26
A fairly significant step ahead was the Linglong Sportmaster 4S, which is the new name for the GripMaster 4S. Linglong were one of the original budget manufacturers, but they have been making a huge investment in development and it's paying off with a sixth place finish overall, significantly ahead of the cheap tires and almost matching the premiums. Linglong has chosen a dry / wet bias for this tire, which I'm all for in an all season tire as it was the best in the dry overall. In the wet it was still a 6% back in wet braking and a little peaky in wet handling, and it definitely was not the best in the snow, but it was way better than a summer tire. It rounded out the test with good comfort levels, average noise but a pretty high rolling resistance. If you're tight on cash, you could do a lot worse than this tire.
