Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 Reviews - Page 12

Given 97% while driving a Jaguar XF S (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 4,000 spirited miles

excellent grip and progressiveness in the wet, haven't been able to get into the limit in the wet, but they really feel that will excel in that as well. the precission of the steering has made the car feel much lighter than it is, the cart sensation is present now. The real magic is that this tire feels so sporty and on the other side so comfortable and quiet. Its like a clark kent , superman tire.
One thing that my car has gained is a tail happy sensation which is great in a awd car.

Given 99% while driving a Volkswagen Scirocco 1,4 TSI 160hp (235/45 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Superb tire, replaced front yokohama c drive, and rear bridgestone potenzas with full set for £380.yokohamas grippy but noisy, bridgestones a hard tire, which does wear very well, but with a harsher ride on my roc.Would recommend bridgestones for your bmw reviewer who asked for advice, they go on and on but too hard for me.After 13000 miles yokohamas worn out. This tire is brilliant on my Scirocco,A very quiet tire even in XL which I have.Braking and handling sublime.Simple choice buy them!

Given 86% while driving a Mazda 3 MPS (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 100 spirited miles
Just swapped 4 worn Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tires for new Goodyear Asymmetric 3 on my Mazda3 MPS. Haven't had these tires very long hence the N/A rating for wear and progressiveness but overall there doesn't seem to be much difference between the two variants.

The car does seem to turn in marginally better, the new tires are fractionally quieter, total grip and comfort levels are unchanged in my opinion.

The side wall height also looks the same, tread patterns are very similar but the rim protection is less pronounced than before and probably won't protect your alloys very much (the older ones didn't offer much protection but they were better than these) .

Excellent value for money at £380 for 4 very capable performance tires. Hopefully the newer technology will see them out perform the older variant over the life span of the tires.

Given 98% while driving a BMW 535d msport touring (245/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 2,000 spirited miles
I had cheap budget crap on when I bought the car I wanted a good set to make the car feel better in the bends and these tires on the front are 100% improvement from what I had on they are much quite and have more grip in the dry and twice as much grip on the wet I am now looking to change my rear tires from budget ones was thinking Bridgestones or falken has anyone got recommendations for me to go with I want a non run flat but quite long lasting for the rears as its a e61 and I carry quite a bit of stuff in the back regularly

Given 93% while driving a Volkswagen GOLF MK5 R32 3.2 V6 4MOTION (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
I've had various makes of tire over the years last 4 sets I have bought are 2 sets of Vredstein Sessanta's and 2 sets of Good Year Asy 2's so I have history of good tires to compare to.
When I bought the R32 it had Toyo T1R's which I didn't like at all (I'd driven lots of R32's before buying and these almost ruined the car) as they were noisy, uncomfortable and didn't inspire confidence so I was going to swap over my GY Asy 2 from my previous car when these came up on a deal and I am very very glad I bought them.
I have now done 5K on them and driven in lots of weather and can say they are easily the best all round tire I have ever driven on.
They have incremental improvements in every area over the Asy 2's except comfort and noise where they are miles ahead of the previous generation tire. Wear is a bit difficult to judge as this is a new car to me but they still look new after 5K in a heavy car.
The only thing I would point out is they do "look" a little chunkier than other tires of the same size so not for those where aesthetics are top of the list but for those where driving dynamics are important and you only have 1 car these are just about perfect.

Given 93% while driving a Toyota GT86 (215/45 R17 W) on mostly town for 2,000 spirited miles
I drive a mildly modded Toyota GT86 and compared to stock Michelin Primacy HP these tires are a revelation. The primacy were good in dry conditions but were stiff and very unpredictable in moist or wet conditions. These have a softer sidewall which takes the edge of bumpy roads in West Yorkshire. They are very progressive and feel some in all conditions. Economy is superb on this sportier tire too. They are wearing well despite feeling more rubbery to the touch. They have transformed the GT86 into a very predictable drive. You can still oversteer at will but atleast you get to decide! They were delivered at £74 a tire from tiredepot. It was a difficult choice between theses and Michelin PS4 but those coat £89 a tire . They could be marginally sportier but theses are a performance bargain.

Given 69% while driving a Renault Megane RS250 CUP (235/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 2,000 spirited miles
My Megane is running 300bhp / 330lb-ft. I bought these after my Michellin PS3's were worn to the limit, the PS3 was an absolutely fabulous tire but I wanted to try something different. A friend of mine recommended the Eagle F1's as he had a set of Asymmetric 2's on his car which performed brilliantly. I went for the 3's as they seemed to have great reviews and thought they'd be an improvement even over the 2's. In my opinion I made the wrong choice, the instant you push the car half as much as I did on the Michellin's the front end slides out and you have to back off. My traction is usually on sport mode to allow for a little bit of pushing but it is now constantly interfering where it very rarely did on the Michellins. Maybe the Asymmetric 2's would have been better. Haven't done a huge amount of miles yet and may review again after a full use out of them. Overall not particularly impressed, wouldn't buy again in a hurry.

Given 99% while driving a Mazda RX8 (225/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Driving a mazda rx-8 from 2008. Previously I had the Falken fk452's (fitted on 2010) which at the time were the best of the best (value for money) there was. These tires so far are outperforming the falkens for quite a bit! As compared with Potenza's and Supersport's they are BETTER hands down. I drive both aggressively and regularly both on highways and urban environments and the road feel you get from these tires are excellent! Even when using a lower profile (40's from 45's) the feedback is excellent and the noise is very minimal. For tear I cant say much yet, but they are doing pretty good so far! And I saved the best for last. The grip level of those tires are seriously the best you can get for this category hands down! Unless you are going semi or full slick, then this is what you should get. Having driven many friends's cars (all the same car as mine) with the other top 10 tires fitted, I can honestly say this your choice. On track days those tires posted on average, -4s / -5s of a normal lap, which is almost unbelievable! The price on those premium tires was almost the lowest on all the top10 in the list, which was a huge surprise to me as I would have expected to pay up to 1k euros for 4 new tires of this performance, yet I paid only half that!!!! I would definitely buy again in the future, and would write a review again when I reach 10k miles! All in all seriously go for it! -Lefsef

Given 94% while driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI MK7 (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 100 average miles
Replaced the old set of Continental CSC2 with this tire. Only done 200km so far and, based on first impressions, this tire is excellent. Much quieter than the CSC2. Grip on dry roads is very good (haven't driven in the wet yet). Very happy with the tire. Will provide more reviews after 5000km.
