Used these as my winter rubber for past 4 winters.
They still have lots of tread left but they are not that great in the ice, which is what they are supposedly designed for, a bit better in fresh snow, aquaplane quite badly, handle ok in the dry for what they are and are quiet. Lethal on greasy roads, no feedback before they let go resulting in lack of confidence in them. Now superceded by Pilot Alpin PA3 and 4, if you see the Alpin PA2 on ebay or at part worn tire shop avoid, buy something else.

Superb tires recommended - go get Vredestein you won't be disappointed.
Better than Continental Sportcontact 2 and Michelin Primacy HP in terms of grip, feedback, wet weather performance and comfort/quietness. Both models of tire I have had previously. Seriously good grip, quiet and look good too. Recommended.

These tires have been the best I've tried so far (out of Falken 452, Michelin Primacy and Toyo T1R).
The grip in wet and dry is outstanding, and above average grip in the snow as well.
Can't comment much on road noise or rolling resistance, since I couldn't give two flying hoots about these things haha.
From what I can see on this site, everyone seems to have the opinion that tires wear too fast (the ratings are rarely above 75%). My fronts are down to 3mm after 20000 miles (many of these motorway to be fair). In my opinion, for tires with such awesome grip, this is unbelievable.
Suffice to say, unless something spectacular comes out, I will be sticking with Vredesteins for the foreseeable future.
Get them now!

Superb tires at a great price, one on each corner for 14000 vigorous miles in a 2.2 Astra Coupe and they are less than 30% worn, sad to let the car go as the tires are in such
good nick!

Have had these tires on my front wheels for 4-6 months and lasted 7,000 -9,000 miles with everyday hard driving, Had twice as much grip as my Nankang NS2 Deathsliders in the wet and dry!!! my front wheel drive car now oversteers around corners which was hard to get used to as i have only ever driven front wheel drive cars that understeer! water dispersal is very good also and beats the AVON ZZ3 tire easily against aqua planing, same water dispersal as GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 GSD2 but beats the GSD3 easily
Grip in dry beats ZZ3 (60% grip compared, Kumho Ecsta (80% grip compared), Falken Rotational (70% grip compared) sorry do not know exact name, Nankang NS2 (55% grip compared)
Wear is worst i have had on any tire though but my last front tires was the Nankang NS2 and they lasted far too long for the abuse i put them through trying to kill them so i could get the horrible things off my car!!!!
All of the fugures above are from what i experienced driving different tires, I cant justify buying the Pirelli P Zero Neros for the extra ?35 as i dont think that they will perform much better than what these already do for me, they have soft sidewalls so buying the xl version is advisable

Bought these to replace Pirelli P6000s on my 2001 2.2 Astra Coupe (145bhp).
Have done about 10,000 spirited miles on them and they are nearly down to the wear indicators, so one point to make is that they aren't particularly long lasting. I got a bit more out of the Pirellis.
However, performance wise these are much better than the Pirellis. No break away from a fast standing start, loads of feedback (can always tell when on the limit), good performance in wet (and by that I mean even if heavy standing water 80mph can be achieved before noticeable aquaplaning occurs). I drive with the radio on so can't comment on road noise, but I can say it's not unreasonable, although I would refer to other reviews for details of this.
Bought these for ?45 each from camskill but now they're up to ?55 (damn recession). Still miles cheaper than the p6000s. Will definitely be buying another pair shortly. Great for a semi hot fwd car but don't know if i'd put a pair on a VXR?
