Best Tires for the Volkswagen Polo gti 1.8t

A very nice and progressive tire for a hot hatch. With regular motorway miles and a fair bit of spirited driving in the countryside, they seem to hold up well with only needing to change 2 tires (as I rotate front to rear) once a year after around 20-22,000 miles. Sometimes there is little feel from the tires on some sections of country road but this varies on the quality of the tarmac.
Have tried various other tires for my hot hatch (PS4, Avon ZRs) and nothing really suits the car as well as the PC6s on 17" rims.

Coming from budgets on each corner to 4 PS4s was an incredible change, from comfortability to outright grip. Having a dragy I also did 0-60mph & 60-124mph on my tuned Polo GTI 6C before was a 6.2 with quite a bit of spin and a 60-124 of 13.2 seconds, after was a 5.7 w/ PS4s 0-60 and a 12.7 60-124 so definitely an improvement. I can’t fully specify the wear amount as I’ve only had them on for a short amount of time.

The PilotSport 4 tires on my Stage 2 Polo GTI 1.8T are amazing. Just so you get an understanding this is a car that weighs 1234kg-ish but has 260bhp and 452nm of torque, The wheelspin is ridiculous... These tires are a massive saviour, I tested a few different tires and even though these may not last aslong as most average tires since they do wear out slightly faster than your average bridgestones they definitely perform above and beyond your expectations, The small 215 width was not enough for the car but once its moving those pilotsports keep you on track and keep your car going exactly where you point it. Understeering was rare even if slightly speeding on roundabouts. So far nothing can compete with these tires in my opinion, They lasted about 8000 miles (Unsure of the exact mileage when they was fitted) and then needed replacing

Having gone from a summer UHP tire of the same size exactly i feel this review would be most helpful to those people doing the same as most people I have spoken to have a different size wheel and tire combination during summer to those fitted in winter.
I purposely looked for a winter tire I could fit to the exact same wheel size with the exact same ratios. The Nokian was the only available tire, the tire had a tad less grip on all surfaces for the first few hundred miles that I have put down to any oils and compounds used to separate the tires from the moulds when initially made, however after time this has passed and the tire behaves and stops well and so far I have very little complaints, I'm sure if driven hard in either wet or cold conditions the tire would reach limits quicker than the summer tire normally fitted would, however in the very cold the tire does seem to grip well with very little wheel spin on acceleration.
It could be all in my head, but i do feel as if the behavior of the tires also improves with colder weather, an example been that traction and road holding on cambered roads and rounder-bouts seems better when the temperature is bellow 7 degrees than it would be approaching 10 degrees. I would like to think that come snow I should be in a better position commuting on these tires than I would be on the Bridgestone S001 summer tires usually fitted and so far have yet to see any characteristics of this tire that come across as unsafe, unpredictable or scary.
That's not to say I would necessarily drive this car with these tires on winter roads the same way I would with UHP tires in good summer weather.

Tires only lasted 7000 miles before needing to be replaced on the front but have been dying to get rid of them since only a few weeks old anyway! With about 200bhp I'm surprised they would spin through to 3rd gear in the dry and sometime further in the wet but I must admit the cornering grip has been well above expectation.

Good tire nothing special i do have them on Polo GTI, and BMW. I do check pressure every week but i wouldn't be able to get 30k. I do love driving cars and motorbikes so i do use cars to full potential sometimes.would i buy again probably not. I am not Bridgestone guy, only because i have better all round tires, and i do find them a bit stiff, maybe on the smooth road would be a diffrent review but Sydney roads are pretty bad.

Pros: When they get hot the dry grip is absolutely amazing!
Cons: they are really hard, would not recommend them for daily driven cars
Bottom line: a great value for money

I was unsure about going for these tires as they were more expensive than the tires I had before. I had been using Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 on before. They were great tires and are probably better all rounders. However, these new Yokohoma tires are so much better in the dry. They grip so well.

Would I buy again? For sure! Would I buy if I wasn't so interested in performance? No. It depends what you want from a tire. For me, no looking back! My MPG has dropped by about 1 MPG over the Goodyear's and the ride is slightly harder. But I've got a GTi for a reason!

Recently replaced the standard Pirelli p-zeros on my 08 Polo GTI with Michelin Pilot Sport 3's all round. Honestly they have transformed my car. The handling is drastically improved but so is the comfort and the road noise. They are not the cheapest tire but I'd recommend them to anyone.

Brilliant grip in the dry, good grip in the wet and great response.

I got these tires as a replacement to the Hankook Ventus tires that were on the car and what a difference they have made.

Would definitely consider buying these tires again. They have been on the car now for four thousand miles and they have barely worn down at all.
