Driving on a combination of roads for 200 spirited miles
Switched to v701 from ad08r, lost traction sightly in the first hard corner where a set of ad08r would have taken with ease. Having said that, there is still enough traction for spirited drive but just don't expect anything close to ad08r's level. Turn in sharpness, road feedback and steering feel are also noticeably weaker than ad08r's, which are a bit disappointing. The strength of v701 are comfort, low road noise and low rolling resistance, something that ad08r cannot provide. While still offer good enough grip for a light and low horsepower car to have a fun spirited drive, when controlled and lively cornering performance is preferred over absolute speed. Yes sometimes too much grip can be less fun. I just miss the great road feedback and steering feel of the ad08r. Guess I'm asking too much.

Had these fitted to my Mazda2 when I purchased it. Very cheap tire and performance reflects this. Tire had maybe a third of its life left so my review will reflect I drove this at its worst. Dry grip okay. Better than other budget passenger tires. Could get some speed of of it but with great difficulty. Steering response is vague and inaccurate. This combined with lack of feedback at the limit made these quite tricky as there was no real warning when these would let go. I would get understeer and snap oversteer with harder cornering. Luckily Mazda's stability control kept me safe. They were very greasy on damp roads but as they were near end of life this is to be expected. Comfort was very good for a performance tire. They were quiet and compliant. All in all this tire is probably for someone who would normally buy the cheapest tire possible and call it a day. They really feel like passenger tires masquerading as performance tires. Fine considering price point but don't expect this to be a cheap alternative to PS4 GYA5 etc.
