As far as grip is concerned I never experienced any problems but you need to bare in mind I commute to London and back every day in heavy traffic. I have a SAAB 93 1.9 diesel Sport Wagon and do not drive progressively so have not tested the limits of the tires. They do seem to give a hard ride although I do not notice any road noise. What I have noticed however is that they are near their wear marks at only 9000 miles on the front. They have worn evenly and I had the wheel alignment checked before they were fitted, I am a bit surprised that stop start driving can take so much wear off a tire??

These tires should carrry a health warning THEY ARE ONLY SUMMER tires, they are lethal in the snow and ice, no grip whatsoever. Lucky not to have had an accident.
As Summer tires, fine no problem, wear rate good, noise level low, as winter tires leave the car in the Garage.

Third set of tires on front since purchasing the car new. Now 60k on clock.
Fronts 1st set 26k 2nd set 21k 3rd set a disappointing 13k, especially the nearside which has worn in the centre although the tire pressures have always been correct. Rear tires 1st set 47k and still going well on the second set.
The tires are bad in snow having no cross banding.
But overall, I feel confident with the in both wet and dry conditions.

This is the original spec tire for my car. Fitted front pair 06/08/09 and had to replace them on 30/01/10 after 17,585 miles. One was just on the lagal limit!! other had 2mm on it.
OK tire but disapointing wear for a premium brand. Has a tendency to follow lines in the road. No problems with wet/dry/ice conditions.
Fuel economy was between 9-10 miles/litre. Mainly on motoway one up, some times fully loaded.

I currently have a set of CSC3's on the front and a set of CSC2's on the rear of my car, and they have transformed the handling and grip levels considerably compared with the Falken 452's and Toyo Proxes T1-R's I was using before.
In terms of ride quality, I honestly cannot notice any significant difference between the CSC3's and the CSC2's, other than the CSC2's being a tad noisier when driving on motorways.
So far, both the CSC3's and the CSC2's are wearing well with hardly any wear evident after 1000 miles of driving, unlike the Toyos which had worn down by 0.5mm within 500 miles when on the front of the car.
Dry weather handling is very good and wet weather handling is excellent. Both the CSC3 and CSC2 are very nicely balanced tires. They're expensive compared to some other performance tires but are, in my view, worth every penny.

Have gone through 3 sets of Sport Contact 2 fitted to 2.0 TDCi S-Max since I had the car - 4 years c55k miles. Driveability and feel is excellent. Confidence is good, but I don't drive hard. Ride is firm, which I put down to 18" 235/45 profiles, especially on rough surfaces, concrete on ie. motorways & A/B roads. Tire noise is OK for the amount of rubber on the road. Tire life is the issue. Previous fronts did 13k miles before the middle hit the minimum tread level. Still 4m on either edge. I ran them at 38psi as recommended. Had tracking checked and minor adjustment and decided to run next set at 32psi. Ride less firm, response not as crisp, but have lasted 17k miles and now on the minimim but even across the whole width. Quote now for SC2 is near ?200 per tire. Have decided to give Uniroyal Rainsport 2 a go, at ?150 per tire since these have very favourable reviews at tirereviews.co.uk.

I had a set of these tires on a Passat Sport 1.8T and they performed fantastically! They wore exceptionally well on that car and though I only did 11k miles there was not much wear on them. However the same can't be said for my Golf 1.9TDI though the grip and everything else I liked about these tires was the same - they wore out incredibly quick on the front after 8k miles!

Just to share with everyone that this is one excellent tire! Best one I've ever driven in the dimension 205/45R16 that is standard for the vRS.
Dry grip is amazing, wet grip even more! To compare it with Dunlop Sportmaxx that I had, it's is light years in front. Dunlops had mediocre dry capabilities and none on wet. Currently my SC2's are completely worn (1mm thread left), and still drive better than new Dunlops.
I also tried the Eagle F1, and it's an awfully loud tire that is a hazard to drive around in cold weather.
I would buy SC's again, but they wear out just too quickly :( After 10.000km they are ready to be replaced (at least the fronts). So a new set every 20.000km? :/
Anyway, if anyone wants to try the best sport tire around, try the Continentals SportContact series, PERIOD!

OEM on my car and lasted 19K miles. Tires always kept at recomended pressure and gave good grip in the dry and wet conditions. Once on the edge of the grip range slid nicely so that control of the vehicle could be maintained with no unexpected loss of grip. Tires always gave maximum grip evcn when cold. Replaced these tires with 2.5 mm tread left as they were suffering with wet weather breaking. Not too bad a tire all in all

This is the first time I have had these tires on my Passat. Great handling and fantastic wear. 65000 KM and counting. Twice in the wet they served their puprose. I am looking for a set of new fronts. The two rears are almost brand new. I will replace with exactly the same 235/45/17 W97 based on wear alone.
