Continental Premium Contact 6 Reviews - Page 6

Given 83% while driving a Alfa Romeo 159 (235/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
The Continental Premium Contact 6 are great tires in dry and wet as well. I mostly drive mountain roads and of course the spirited way to drive, at this pricetag I'm a bit disapointed of the mileage of about 6000 miles. I have an alfa romeo 159 TBI with 200hp lowered wit kw suspension, next summer season I am likely to try some other tires. These are my first "performance oriented" tires, therefore I can't compare them to other brands yet. I hope this review can provide any help and keep the gas burning.

Given 72% while driving a Honda Legend 3.5 V6 SH AWD (KB1) (245/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
All-round performance is very good. Dry and wet grip are great and although my car is heavy on the front the tires are masking that very well. At the limit, there is obvious understeer, but always easily predictable, even on wet surfaces. But unfortunately the tires can be very noisy. On average it is not bad, but on rough (asphalt) concrete there are lots of noise and vibrations delivered into the cabin and mainly into the steering wheel. I do not remember other tires were exhibiting the same behaviour. But the only direct comparison, I have on the same road is with my winter tires - Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen2 - which are a little noisier overall but are not so picky about surfaces.

Given 100% while driving a Fiat Bravo (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Honestly can't fault it, best tire I've had so far. Comfy but sporty, best for average spirited use IMO.

Given 90% while driving a Ford Focus MK3 (205/55 R16 H) on a combination of roads for 7,000 spirited miles
I never would've thought, that a simple tire changecan make such a difference. These are the best tires I've ever had on any of my cars. Compared to the previous Bridgestones (on this car), the Conti's are much sharper at turn-in, have more dependable traction in bends, use the brake force better, and in general feel much sportier and nimbler. Even with comfortably soft sidewalls. The wet grip is even better. i was very much surprised that I could take the same turns with almost the same speed as in the dry. The only negativity is the noisiness, which is still not unbearable, but is far not the most silent I've come across.

Given 63% while driving a BMW 316 (225/50 R17 V) on mostly motorways for 5,000 average miles
Everything is ok, handling is good, wet and dry grip is not bad but the noise is unbelievable!! very very very noisy tire. if you drive in town, it may not be a problem but in motorways you cant hear the music sound in the car.

Skoda (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,900 spirited miles
Compared to the cheaper rainsport 3s I had before these grip better in the dry and even the wet. Really really good reliable grip on all corners. As this is on a FWD car i greatly benefitted from having better front tires. Old ones used to understeer even when brand new and these even when the shoulders are not happy, continues to grip around corners even enough to unstick the rears. (Falkon eco tires at the same psi - lowest handbook says - had those for 11 months and they still good tread) Even when taking off, these grip so much better even in the wet with little to no wheelspin when launching compared to old ones that would just sit and spin. Comfort wise i can't really tell to be honest as at low speed this car is pretty harsh anyway. Noise is about the same on the motorway and fairly plush. They did wear pretty fast on certain points of the tires (shoulders) but this will be down to the need of a alignment and my hard cornering. They do still grip well and I have put a fair few miles on these. The rest of the tire is still got lots of tread left and even the shoulders have a fair bit left its just their wear compared to the rest.

Given 91% while driving a Skoda Octavia vRS (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 5,300 spirited miles
Its not the comfiest of tires (noise). But of the other hand it works well, great stability in higher speeds and superb response from the wheels. Wet conditions performance is also solid. I can recommend this tire! Its either continental or Michelin.

Given 89% while driving a Mazda cx5 (225/55 R19 T) on mostly town for 2,000 spirited miles
Hey. B just wanted to share my opinion on Continental. Wearing it for two months now on my Mazda CX-5 ,19" wheels. It gives a car more control comparing to the stock Toyo prizes. It also gives better comfort, in terms of noise and bumps handling. It also definitely better on old stone roads which we have a lot in Ukraine. Comparing with my winter Bridgestone Blizak Dm-v1, Conti is a bit more noisy. I was choosing between this and Michelin PS4, And decided to go with this one, since had ContiPremiumContact2 on my Ford Focus 8 years ago and it was super comfort. Also, since I own an SUV, it gives a bit today l sport to my sporty SUV.

Given 89% while driving a Mercedes Benz C200 CDI Sport (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 31,944 average miles
The Continental Premium Contact 6 (225/45/R17 94Y) have been on my Mercedes-Benz C200 CDI Avantgarde for around 31944 miles (51410km). The rear tires have been replaced after 25840 miles (41586km). I've driven the car on every type of road including racetracks. The tires have a lot of grip in dry and wet conditions. They give very good feedback but they're not the most comfortable tires. You can feel every little bump or uneven surface of the road you're driving on. These tires are also a little bit noisy. But I would definitely buy them again!

Given 51% while driving a Audi A3 S Line Sportback 2.0 TDI 184 (225/40 R18 W) on mostly motorways for 8,000 average miles
Bought 4 new tires, front two lasted one year approx 8k miles. For tires this expensive would've expected to last a little longer. Driving was mostly motorway driving so to wear that bad would not buy again.

Given 63% while driving a BMW 530D (225/50 R17 H) on mostly country roads for 15 average miles
Theese came with my e61 bmw 530xd. Never wanted continental but lets try them out, since they were almost brand new. They are upper market premium tires, not sporty tires, but overall good...they claim. Looks: pattern looks modern and effective. Tire sidewall has to bee some of the worst design ever. Makes the car look bad. This alone wants me to change to something like pilot sport 4s or Hankook S1 evo, wich both have very stylish sidewalls. Dry grip; more than i will need. 1800kg car and you really feel the tire give under pressure, but still remains grip. Wet grip: Never have i tried better tires in wet grip. Remarcable, given this is not a performance-sport tire. Comfort/drive quality: Theese tires are very noisy! Took off studded winter tires, and the summer contis are the same if not more noisy. Very dissapointed, given the soft rubber and premium image to the brand. I can barely stand it. Think Falken FK510 should be my next tire because of lower noise level. Driving feel is ok, but no responce from the steering. I can forgive that, this beeing a comfort orientated tire, but not when it is this noisy. Ride comfort is very good. It eases out any roughness in the road. Wear: Good for a Conti tire, wich are prown to wear out after 1-2 summer seasons (for me that is 1. april to 1. November) I feel pc6 will last longer. After 15.000km they are worn down from 7mm from new, to 4.7mm. So if they last 15.000km more, that beeing a total of 30.000km, i'm happy. Will buy again?; NO! The road noise and awful lokking sidewalls are what puts me off. Price is not an issue when i buy tires. Next time i will try Pilot Sport 4s og FK510.

Mercedes Benz C350 RWD (255/35 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 1 spirited miles
Thoughts on initial receipt of the tires in 255/35/18 94Y size. 7-7.2 tread, seemingly the norm these days, so effectively only 5.4mm usable tread vs. 6.4mm at 8mm new. VERY wide longitudinal grooves - leaving not much 'rubber on the road'/contact patch compared to the CSC5 s ive previously used. (Or much rubber to wear through at all) Despite the publication reviews showing the best wear on test at date, having used PS4s a while back, also with very wide grooves and 7mm tread, which did not last well at all for a Michelin, I'm sceptical of how well these will last. Full review to follow in the coming weeks once I've got the winter wheels off and ive managed to run them in.
