175/80 R14 Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Nokian iLine
rated 100%
I haven`t had them for very long but they sure are great.I have tried them on wet and dry conditions and they handle very well.I can`t say about the fuel efficiency i haven`t noticed any significant difference.Noise wise they are pretty nice much quieter than my last tires but i am not an expert on how good they are. I really like how they sound under load, they start getting this rumble into the corner before they start screaching so you get a really good feel of how much more they can handle.

though not a directional tire they have to be fitted the right way, the side that faces out is clearly marked, nice tire plenty of grip wet or dry, not too noisy important on my car due to minimum isulation, good handling overall a very good tire, good value

Writing about the Barum Brillantis 2
rated 79%
Cheap, trustworthy, comfortable, quiet (enough) and reliable.
Very predictable on dry, less so in the wet, but still within safe limits.
175/80-14 squeals a bit on tight, mountainy hairpins; otherwise car tracks like a train on them and - as far as this kind of car lets you - they are willing to have the car thrown around on them.
Wear is not an issue yet and I also don't expect it to become one.
On original 185/65-15 the car was a bit thrashy on sudden ridges, unloaded. Switching to 175/80-14 gave a very comfortable ride, all-round, on these Barums.
Recommendable - at least for the more conventional driver - and I would certainly buy again.

Currently have these on the front of my Vauxhall Astra Eco4. In the dry they grip fine at what most people would define as 'normal' e.g sticking to speed limits however if you do try and push the car slightly (especially around corners) they soon lose grip and make a lot of screeching noise. Wet roads, again they are fine if you drive normally however like dry conditions it does not take much to lose grip, when they do lose it the car feels like its on ice. Noise wise they are quiet, they are wearing very well and are a comfortable tire. The irony is wouldn't have fitted these but my father had the car from me for 6 months and he chose them. They actually cost the same as the firestones I have on the back which for this car and tire size I really rate.
So the long and short of it is if you only ever intend to strictly obey the speed limits and drive sensibly then these tires are fine however if on occasions you do like to push it slightly then I would enquire about a better tire.

awful, awful, awful! My car came with these tires and when i replaced i gave them the benefit of the doubt and replaced with the same...what a mistake! they are plain awful, dangerous even (in the wet/snow), and wear down in just over 10,000 miles. I expected much better from a 'famous' brand like Firestone.

Have had these on my 02 plate Astra Eco4 diesel for now for 7,000 miles and I cant fault them at all. Dry grip is excellent and although my car is not built for speed the skinny 175 tires grip extremely well when I push it. They are quiet, and smooth and also have excellent feedback. They are safe in the wet and they cut through deep puddles with ease. Although they are not a winter tire they also handled the recent snow very well and inspired confidence if driven appropriately. Will definitely fir these again when the time comes. Forgot to mention, they wear well also.
