In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 118 ft stop against 112 ft is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 95%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 13 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO
- 73%from 46 reviews
- 62%would buy again
- 372,134 milesdriven by reviewers
Overall, drivers report that the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO delivers strong wet grip and aquaplaning resistance with a comfortable, confidence-inspiring ride, often feeling secure in cold-wet conditions and adequate in light snow. However, many note rapid wear and a marked drop-off in performance (especially wet grip) and rising noise as the tread wears. A subset also report tread block damage or delamination and a soft, somewhat vague steering feel. If you prioritize wet safety and comfort and accept shorter tread life, it can be a solid choice.
- excellent wet grip
- strong aquaplaning resistance
- comfortable/quiet ride
- secure handling in cold/wet
- rapid tread wear/short longevity
- performance and wet grip deteriorate noticeably as they wear
- increased road noise with mileage

All 46 Weather Control A005 EVO reviewsThese tires have been fitted to my Toyota Rav4 for the last few years.
I choose Bridgestones over the Cross climates for the comfort, wet performance and lower rolling resistance.
Good-
Assured in the wet and dry, very comfortable, not found the limit of grip yet.
Bad-
Tires started cracking around the tread blocks within 12months, louder than expected on the road, snow performance best described as lacking (short of what I'd expected).
Verdict-
Wouldn't buy again, would pick quieter tires next time with better cold weather performance.
Vredestein Quatrac
- 81%from 30 reviews
- 86%would buy again
- 345,646 milesdriven by reviewers
Drivers report the Vredestein Quatrac is a strong all-season tire, most often praised for excellent wet-road grip and confident performance in cold conditions, including light-to-moderate snow and ice. Many reviewers highlight strong longevity (often projecting 60-80k km) along with good comfort and generally low noise, making it a solid value alternative to pricier rivals. A minority note higher cabin noise on certain vehicles and slightly less sharp/softer dry handling (especially in hotter temperatures) compared with more summer-focused tires.
- Excellent wet grip and confident wet braking
- Strong cold-weather performance (snow/ice capable for an all-season)
- Good longevity/treadwear and even wear reported by many
- Comfortable ride quality
- Can be noisier for some vehicles/sizes (noted by a minority)
- Dry handling/steering feel not as sporty or can feel softer in heat versus summer-oriented tires

All 30 Quatrac reviewsFinally retired these at 55k miles. They were real good over all. Average: price and comfort. Above average: off road, snow and ice grip. Way above average: wet and dry grip. The wear was good too, if my alignment didn't go out I could've gotten about 62k out of these.
These tires went through hell and back. I took my car off road several times with these, they went through several snow storms including a couple blizzards. They never once let me down. I once got mired about 4" deep in muddy sand and was able to get out (fwd civic).
I ended up buying a new set of these. Very satisfied overall, I doubt there's another tire that has such good performance across the board without being costly. My new set was around mid $700s in total including mount, balance and disposal.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
Eight shared tests split six to two in favor of the Vredestein Quatrac, and the two the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO won were both braking-only shootouts: 1st of 37 in Auto Bild's 2022 market overview and 1st of 33 in its 2020 braking test. In the six full tests, where snow, handling and wear all count, the Vredestein finished ahead every time.
Wet braking is the Bridgestone's calling card and the numbers back it up. It stopped shorter in seven of the eight tests that measured it, by 7.1 percent at ADAC in 2026, 32.6m against 35.1m, and by 5.6 percent on concrete, 38.7m against 41m. It was also quieter in four of six measurements and rolled with less resistance in four of five.
The Vredestein wins almost everything else. It took all five wet handling comparisons and all five snow traction measurements, five of six snow brakings and four of five snow handling runs, and it was the cheaper tire in three of four price comparisons, 260 against 290 at Auto Zeitung.
Conclusion
The Vredestein Quatrac is the better all-season tire, and it wins on the placings that count whole performance: 2nd of 17 against the Bridgestone's 15th at Auto Bild in 2022, 1st of 9 against 5th at Auto Zeitung, 1st of 13 against 3rd, 2nd of 16 against 10th, 4th of 16 against 13th at ADAC in 2026 and 4th of 11 against 6th in our own 2021 test, where it was recommended. It swept wet handling five to nil and snow traction five to nil, and it took five of six snow braking runs and four of five snow handling runs. It is also the cheaper tire, 260 against 290 at Auto Zeitung, and it wore better in two of three measurements. Owners rate it 9.50 across 28 reviews against 8.40 from 45.
The Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO is the wet braking specialist. It stopped shorter in seven of the eight tests that measured it, most clearly at ADAC in 2026, 32.6m against 35.1m, and it topped both of Auto Bild's big braking-only line-ups, 1st of 37 in 2022 and 1st of 33 in 2020. It was quieter in four of six noise measurements, 70dB against 72dB at Auto Zeitung, and rolled with less resistance in four of five tests.
The exception to the wet braking story is worth noting: in our own 2021 test the Vredestein stopped shorter, 26.67m against 28.61m, so the Bridgestone's advantage is large but not universal. If your all-season year has any real winter in it, the Vredestein is the tire. If you rarely see snow and you buy on emergency wet stopping alone, the Bridgestone earns its case.

Where this data comes from
Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tires ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tire Reviews Score rates each tire out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tires can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tire Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tires independently since 2007.
