Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 vs Vredestein Quatrac

This head-to-head pits two of the most accomplished European all-season touring tires against each other: Goodyear's Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 and Vredestein's Quatrac. Across 15 shared tests, both consistently score near the front, but they take different routes to year-round security. The Goodyear leans into winter assurance and efficiency, while the Vredestein majors on wet and dry road confidence with strong value.

Recent results sharpen the contrast. In 2025 and 2024 AutoBild SUV/PC sizes, the Quatrac topped the field with standout wet performance and shorter dry stops, while Goodyear countered with better comfort, lower rolling resistance, and notably stronger snow metrics in several sub-tests. ADAC 2024 swung back to Goodyear overall thanks to excellent winter performance and wear. If you drive through real winters, the balance shifts one way; if you prioritize wet-grip confidence and price, it shifts the other.

Test Results

Independent comparison tire tests are the best source of data to get tire information from, and the good news is there have been fifteen tests which compare both tires directly!

Summary of fifteen total tests comparing both tires directly

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3five
five wins
Vredestein Quatracten
ten wins

While it might look like the Vredestein Quatrac is better than the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 purely based on the higher number of test wins, tires are very complicated objects which means where one tire is better than the other can be more important in real world use.

Let's look at how the two tires compare across multiple tire test categories.

Key Strengths

  • Class-leading winter capability (regular wins in snow braking, traction, handling, and strong ice braking)
  • Lower rolling resistance and often better fuel/efficiency results
  • Comfort and low noise subjectively strong in multiple tests
  • Competitive wear/longevity with several test wins for mileage and abrasion
  • Outstanding wet performance (frequent wins in wet braking/handling and aquaplaning)
  • Shorter dry braking in the vast majority of comparisons
  • Balanced, confidence-inspiring handling across seasons
  • Compelling value proposition with strong wear in some tests and usually lower purchase price

Real World Driver Reviews

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 Driver Reviews

Across most reviews, the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 is described as a highly capable all-round tire with standout wet-road security (strong grip, wet braking, and aquaplaning resistance) and confidence in cold conditions including snow for an all-season. Many drivers also report very good longevity/wear and a generally quiet, comfortable ride. The most repeated drawbacks are a softer, less precise steering/feedback feel and slightly weaker dry braking/traction when pushed in warm or hot conditions compared with dedicated summer tires.

Vredestein Quatrac Driver Reviews

Drivers largely praise the Vredestein Quatrac for excellent wet grip, strong snow and cold-weather traction, and impressive tread life, with many noting quiet, comfortable cruising. Handling in the dry is generally good, though a few find it less engaging than top summer options and mention elevated noise on some cars. A small minority report poor wet/dry grip or noise concerns, but high-scoring reviews emphasize balanced all-season performance and value. Overall, the Quatrac delivers dependable year-round capability with standout wet performance and durability.

Almost time to switch back to my summer tires. So, here’s my impression of my “mild climate winter” tires. I used to drive on Continental WinterContact TS860 winter tires, but last winters, I noticed that I almost never drive on snow. And in spring and fall, when temperatures jump up and down, I was sometimes driving on my winter tires at temperatures around 20°C. So now, I followed your advice and chose All Season tires for the winter season. I drove them for about 6.000 km now in temperatures between -2 and +16 °C, in the dry and in lots of rain.
Just after switching to the... Continue reading this review using the link below

Best Review for the Vredestein Quatrac
Given 77% 205/55 R16 on a combination of roads for 7 spirited miles
They grip surprisingly well for an all season tire in the dry and snow. I have these mounted on a 8th generation Honda civic sedan with the r18 engine and these tires have me absolutely glued to the ground. I replaced my old Goodyear eagle "all season" tire which had the snow performance of a summer tire in the snow and didn't even preform well in wet or dry. But back to the vredestein, I once was screwing around (dry, 65°f) taking a highway exchang ramp a bit too fast, I hit one rather sharp bend at probably 55+mph and didn't break traction for a second, no tire squeal or anything. Conclusion

Synthesis across tests shows a clear pattern: Vredestein Quatrac is the all-rounder that repeatedly wins big comparative tests on the strength of its wet grip (often leading wet braking/handling) and typically shorter dry braking. Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 excels when winter matters most-regularly leading snow braking/traction/handling-and adds advantages in rolling resistance, comfort, and often wear.

For mixed, rain-heavy climates with milder winters, the Quatrac's consistently shorter braking in the dry and wet and strong aquaplaning margins make it the safer feeling choice day-to-day, often at a keener price. For regions with frequent snow/ice or drivers who value efficiency and longevity, the Goodyear's winter authority and lower rolling resistance pay off over time. Bottom line: pick Quatrac for wet-road confidence and value, Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 for winter security and efficiency.
Key Differences
  • Wet grip: Quatrac repeatedly stops shorter and laps faster in the wet (e.g., −5-10% wet braking gaps in several tests).
  • Dry braking: Quatrac leads dry stops in 14 of the shared category results.
  • Winter performance: Goodyear dominates snow/ice metrics (wins most snow braking/traction/handling and the sole ice braking data point).
  • Efficiency: Goodyear typically has lower rolling resistance; Quatrac can consume slightly less fuel in select tests but more often trails.
  • Comfort/noise: Goodyear often rates higher in subjective comfort; Quatrac is sometimes quieter externally but varies by size/test.
  • Value/longevity: Quatrac often cheaper upfront and won wear in 2024 AutoBild, while Goodyear takes multiple mileage/abrasion wins in other sizes/tests.

Footnote

This page has been developed using tire industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tires in the same test.

Why is this important? Tire testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tire test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tire tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tire Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tire comparison, Tire Reviews doesn't.
