Mercedes Benz C200k Tires

Having been trying out this types for at least a year , my verdict ,it is another of those non exciting tire, no handling pleasure to mention in wet or dry but its safe to use. The only thing I can think off is it wear off slowly and it can last you a while without having to change new tire. It is ok for city drive ,you will not feel any difference. But if driving 320km in 1 trip on twisty road ! My recommendation is a big no! A Asy2/3 or PS3/4 or Re002/3 will definitely make u feel more happy. I seriously not consider buying them again cos it is also not cheap.

I have fitted these tires on my car after having the previous version of the same tire for 4 years on the same car.
I am located in Athens, Greece.
When the tires are new, they are simply excellent on dry and wet. They take a few minutes of driving to reach their optimum temperature, but from then on they provide about the same grip level with the Continental SportContact or the Michelin Pilot Sports. They handle better that the Michelins on turns and they are relatively quiet. They are more reliable than the Contis in terms of driving up a curbside once in a while, the Contis and Michelins are notorious for damages due to curbsides, especially when they are warm.
Forget about driving even on a minimum thickness of snow, they are totally wrong for snow or ice.
The problem with the Goodyears is that after a couple of years their rubber gets very hard so they lose their grip on dry and wet.
I believe that driving fast on hot asphalt somehow bakes the rubber and it loses its elasticity. I usually drive this car on country roads and the freeway in the summer, sustained speeds up to 150 km/h at temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, and this changes their behaviour.
Right now, I cannot push my fingernail inside the tread, it is as hard as a brick, and they loose grip too easily, especially in the city. ESP and ABS are kicking in all the time even though they have more that 5 mm of tread depth left.

I had similar problems with the Assymetric 2, but i thought I'd give Goodyear a second chance. Bad call....

If you are driving in hot climates, I would suggest a different tire. I myself have no idea which tire I should replace them with.

Have change to this tire from PS3 Michelin, my first impression was it is not as sticky on the road to compare to the PS3. The steering feel is not as precise I think mainly the design of the rim protector that make the tire more square at the edge. But the tire is surprising soft, & quiet after 30,000km run with still 50% thread. I do about 70% highway 30% city. But overall it is a good performance tire. However becos of the price & the quality , I will consider during my next purchase ( I realize that Goodyear tire thread will get uneven after using it for sometime just like the Goodyear excellence when I did my balancing during rotation) it is kind of frustrating though cos I make sure the pressure is kept at 30-32 psi . It make the steering wheel vibrate a bit when I am driving fast . Not to mention it is made in Germany. But other then that it is a good tire .

Bought this tires as recommended by a tire dealer.
it's pretty good during the first 15k km, irregardless o dry or wet.
what follow next is nightmare, the rear tend to wear out so much faster for my ride and it' actually deform. 20k km and the rear is at its min thread rating mark, but still running good in the front with almost 50% threads.
i believe for my ride, it do stress the rear as im pushing 270nm of torque on the rear wheel plus the car is 1.5ton heavy. maybe that explain the wear and deform? ( idk)
Guess the comments regarding this tire that will deform overtime is true.
get rid of the tire and change to michellin ps4 with no regrets

Have recently fitted a set of SP 9000's to my car. Amid stories of unusual noise levels, the noise in my Merc's cabin is the same, if not less, than when I had a set of budgets on the car. I use the car for daily commuting and do not participate in any form of racing. Will update after 5000km.

The combination of my car, this tire and our crook Australian roads makes this a totally unsuitable combination. The tire had 1 sidewall belt of rayon that has no give in it making the car's ride like driving on a set of run flat tires. On smooth, level roads in both wet and dry conditions it was very good but on uneven potholed or rough broken surfaces (like most Australian roads) the ride was appalling.

The wear was disappointing given I am used to get double the mileage and whilst I rated the road feedback at 9, it was unwanted because it caused much discomfort. As the tires wore, the steering lost its straight line directiveness.

I would suggest this tire might be suitable on cars with softer suspension, a higher aspect ratio and in countries that have better roads - but not this car.

This week I replaced them with a set of Pirelli Cinturato P7s' and what a difference. Good grip, a comfortable quiet ride resulting in less stress on me - what a relief after 5 years of torture!
