Lexus NX 300h Tire Review Highlights
I replaced all 4 tires on my Lexus NX with Continental Cross Contact H/T 100H tires. What a difference, I had Yokohama Blueearth E51 100H tires on before, these are standard factory fit by Lexus. The Yokohama tires are a very stiff side wall, offering little bump absorption on roughy UK roads. The NX is not really a sporty SUV to be thrown into corners, so the stiff tire wall is wasted in my opinion, instead they provide a very bumpy ride with excessive noise which passengers complained about. The Continentals are so much quieter, offer a smoother ride and have a softer side wall. I can’t really tell the difference in handling, it’s an SUV so I don’t expect race car handling and never pushed the Yokohama tires so I can’t really comment too much. I certainly won’t be going back to Yokohama Blueearth tires.

The Yokohama Blueearth E51 tires are a standard on many Lexus NX300h models in the uk. I had the 2021 Takumi spec with them on. In my experience I found the Yokohama tires to be an extremely harsh ride on UK roads. For a luxury vehicle it’s a strange option of tire, the side walls are extremely stiff offering poor absorption of bumps, if the vehicle was all about handling in corners then it may be an option, the NX is no sports touring car so benefits very little from the minimal tire roll. The tire noise is also very loud, the compound goes hard very quickly, I had 3 year old tires and on uneven road surfaces the noise was an intrusion in the cabin. I replaced all four with Continental Cross Contacts, what a difference, super quiet and smooths the bumps, the side wall of the tire actually flexes so bumps are absorbed and this provides for a quieter ride generally.

Hmmm...all good only a little aquaplaning and fast wear ,hard to find in UK,I buy them from Italy, maybe I can go to 18.000 miles with them, now I have 5.000 miles, all around good tires,if you want longevity go for Michelin, but price it will go (long)evity too LOL.

I don't recommed Bridgestone Enlinten Technology because it is making the tires uneven. I had to buy another 5th Bridgestone tire to test this and this one was also oval. The tire manufacture refuse to replace the tires because they see nothing wrong with it. The other tires that I bought are round, and the car glides on the highway. The other five brand new Bridgestone Turanza tires are sitting in the basement. They are total garbage and I don't want them. To test if tires are round, simply drive for 5 minutes with a cup of water on the dashboard to test it. If the water spills, the test is failed.

Have been driving with these for almost 50000km now, been through Nordic winters, European summer heat waves etc, temperatures ranging from -20C up to over +30C, wet and dry, everything.
When they were brand new, it was difficult to fault these tires. They preformed better than the aging premium Nordic winter tires in the snow. Comfort good, dry performance as good as you could expect, wet performance was also fine.
After 50000km they all have around 5.5-6 mm left. However, the way the treads are designed meant that around the centre line, they have less than 1mm left at this stage (there is no uneven wear or under/over pressure, tracking on the car is checked yearly, no punctures/repairs) - the base of the tire has a V shape so the centre of the tire also start with less mm when they were brand new. This interesting design and wear pattern meant that there is now a significant drop in performance: aquaplaning risk increased dramatically, wet grip is completely gone, braking performance in all conditions deteriorated. Noise also increased significantly.
So even those most of the tires still have more than 5.5mm left, they need to be replaced. They have become almost dangerous under all conditions.
Perhaps they were designed this way, but I was expecting more even and consistent performance through the lifespan of the tires. Unfortunately I will not buy them again.
