The Continental EcoContact 6 is the efficiency leader, recording the lowest rolling resistance by a significant margin and delivering the longest range on the electric test car. Interior noise is very quiet. On dry roads, it handles securely with stable cornering behavior and precise steering - test drivers gave it the highest score for steering response. The cost of this efficiency focus is severe: wet braking distances are the longest in the test, wet lateral grip is the weakest, and wet handling times are the slowest. The gap is substantial - it slides 21 feet further than the Dunlop when braking on wet surfaces. Its EU label reflects this trade-off with an A rating for rolling resistance but only B for wet grip, the only tire in the group not rated A for wet grip. Dry braking is also on the longer side.

Across 7 summer tests, the Continental EcoContact 6 shows a very clear “eco” tuning: it repeatedly leads rolling resistance/energy consumption and is frequently among the quietest tires, with decent-to-good durability in the tests that measured wear. However, this efficiency focus consistently comes with compromised wet safety and wet control, including repeated bottom-of-group results in wet handling, wet braking and aquaplaning metrics, which drags down overall rankings.

On dry roads the pattern is mixed: it can deliver competitive dry handling in some line-ups, but dry braking is generally mid-pack to below mid-pack and in at least one major test dry handling fell to last place. Overall, the EcoContact 6 best suits drivers prioritizing low energy use and low noise over wet-grip performance and ultimate all-round test results.

While the sibling PremiumContact 6 becomes test winner, the EcoContact 6 finishes further down the field. The wet grip leaves a lot to be desired and often it is the rear that releases the grip first with an unwelcome slide. The stopping distance on wet roads is well over four meters longer than PremiumContact 6 at 50 mph – a difference that grows significantly at higher speeds. With relatively low tread depth – 6.7 mm new – it aquaplanes early. In the dry the EcoContact 6 does not perform particularly well, it is a bit slow to react to steering input and change course. However, the high-speed stability is good. The Continental EcoContact 6 has the lowest consumption in the test and comfort s very high. But that cannot justify a buy.

The Continental EcoContact 6 performs exceptionally well in terms of fuel consumption and also gets a very good rating in terms of wear. While it can still secure a good rating on dry roads, it does not get more than a satisfactory rating in the wet due to its weaknesses in aquaplaning behavior. In the sum of its properties, the tire is recommended.
