In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 118 ft stop against 112 ft is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 94%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 7 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Every measurement, side by side
Averages of the figures both tires posted in the same tests. The gap is the average of each test's own gap, so figures from different cars and years are never mixed. Open a discipline for its measurements, and a measurement for every test's figure.
Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

All 33 WinterContact TS 870 P reviewsI've driven the tires in the winter, but on roads devoid of snow and ice so I can't comment on that. They made me feel very secure, however, I have to say that they are far too sporty for my driving style and needs. They carry a lot of responsibility for my decision to buy the car, as they are very comfortable, quiet and make the car feel very surefooted and responsive in the dry and in the wet.
There is one gripe, though, they have absolutely no rim protection, so I blame them for all the scratching on my wheels. I would expect more from a tire of this class from a reputable brand, and, honestly, it is a strong enough reason (albeit the only one) for me not to buy them again. In every other aspect they are brilliant, they even equal summer tires in fuel consumption.
Hankook Winter i cept evo3
- 86%from 23 reviews
- 91%would buy again
- 164,670 milesdriven by reviewers
Across 20 reviews, the Hankook Winter i*cept evo3 is described as a highly confidence-inspiring winter tire with standout traction in snow and strong, predictable grip in wet conditions (often praised for stability and aquaplaning resistance). Many drivers also report good dry-road handling for a winter tire and consider it excellent value versus premium brands. A smaller minority mention increased road noise or a firmer/less comfortable ride compared with their summer tires, but this is not the dominant experience.
- Excellent snow traction and confidence in winter conditions
- Strong wet grip and high aquaplaning resistance
- Stable, predictable handling and good road feedback
- Good comfort and generally low noise for a winter tire
- Some users find it noisier than summer tires or typical winter tire buzzing

All 23 Winter i cept evo3 reviewsI used these Hankook Winter i*cept evo3 W330 tires for 4 full winter seasons on a Jeep Compass 2.0 Multijet 4x4. They lasted for roughly 5,500 miles (around 8,900 km). The grip held up exceptionally well as they wore down, providing consistent traction and stability for an AWD SUV in various winter conditions. They offer great value and reliable performance, and I would absolutely buy them again.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
This head-to-head pits two UHP winter heavyweights against each other: Continental's WinterContact TS 870 P and Hankook's Winter i*cept evo3. Across 16 shared professional tests from 2021-2025, both deliver capable cold-weather performance, but they prioritize different strengths and value propositions.
The TS 870 P consistently excels in dry and wet control, comfort, noise, and efficiency, often ranking near the top for braking and handling with class-leading rolling resistance. The Hankook counters with strong aquaplaning reserves, competitive wet stopping, and repeatedly superior performance on ice and in several snow metrics-while undercutting Continental on purchase price and predicted mileage in multiple test programs.
Conclusion
If you want the most rounded UHP winter tire with excellent everyday manners, the Continental TS 870 P is the safer bet: it brakes and handles very well on dry and wet roads, rides quieter and more comfortably, and delivers the lowest rolling resistance in class-an advantage for fuel economy and EV range. Its main caveat is ice performance, where it trails the best, and a premium price.
The Hankook Winter i*cept evo3 offers standout value and winter-road security. It repeatedly tops aquaplaning tests, matches or narrowly trails in wet braking, and has the edge on ice and often in snow braking/traction-while typically costing less and, in some tests, promising higher mileage. Its trade-offs are higher noise, slightly weaker comfort, and less efficiency.
Bottom line: Continental for balanced, efficient, quiet all-round performance and regular wet/dry commuting; Hankook for drivers prioritizing snow/ice confidence and strong aquaplaning safety at a keener price.
