Volkswagen Golf Mk7.5 Alltrack 2.0TDI Tires

These Goodyears came factory-fitted on my second-hand Golf Alltrack. On both motorways and in city driving, in wet or dry conditions, they perform fairly well, giving a comfortable ride and showing little wear after three seasons. (Most likely, the previous owner also used a dedicated set of winter tires.)

On winding B-roads, the first thing I noticed compared to my previous car, which had Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun tires fitted based on reviews here, is that the Goodyears provide noticeably less feedback about how much grip the front axle has. The Golf in its Estate/Alltrack form is naturally understeer-biased and not the sharpest choice for quick driving, even with dynamic suspension in Sport mode, but with these tires you don’t really feel how much grip is left when cornering and can sometimes be caught off guard by the amount of understeer.

Dry braking performance also leaves something to be desired. The car itself feels like it could brake harder and more precisely, but the tires make the response feel a bit vague and muted.

So i just bought these tires replacing a pair of Michelin Primacy 4s. The difference is (and i kid you not) night and day.
The road feedback is amazing.
The comfort is amazing -> these take bumps soooo much better than those Michelins.
No problems in rain whatsoever. Grips for ages...well rounded tire.
Ah and btw on my old Golf 7 I had a brand new pait of Premium Contact 6s and i dont think those held a candle to these new PC7s.
Must buy. in my humble oppinion.

The tires are great for driving through slush, ice, snow. Even greater with 4x4. No studs lost over 3000km driven/1st season with city driving over tram tracks.

On dry road you can definitely feel that the stopping distance is longer. Also due to the soft compound, the tire moves/tilts quite a lot if you do sporty driving on country roads with lot of turns, but eventually you get used to this.

These replaced a set of Goodyear Assurance Comforttred after 1000 kms which were hard as a rock and did not work comfort wise at all. Oxymoron name being called Comforttred. Quiet and handled better than the UC7 but this was due to less sidewall flex.
The UC7 ride better with more sidewall flex but this reduces the handling (almost too much). Though, the tire steers OK but with bit less communication and are as quiet as the Goodyear's.
The reason i went to the Goodyear & Continental was price. I have used Pirelli Cinturato P7 & Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on a diesel Golf Hatch and both had better handling and bit more grip but too expensive for me atm. Was not impressed with the turn in of the PS4. The UC7 is about the same. Maybe a bit better. The P7 responded like a go-cart.
So i am stuck with the UC7 till they wear out. I will experiment with tire pressures. Lower for town driving and bit more for country & corners.
