Best Tires for the Peugeot Expert

This is an initial review after just two weeks.

First impressions are very positive of the Agilis CrossClimate. I purchased 4 for my van after having pervious good experience with the summer version of the Agilis and the normal CrossClimate’s fitted to a family member’s car.

Although we have yet to have snow or heavy rain, the wet and dry handling at low temperatures have been impressive (driven them at around -2). I have much more confidence in these than the previous midrange tires I had installed on my van. Only a day or two after purchasing I had to preform an emergency stop (all be it at lower speeds) and the tires stopped me dead! From that moment on I have had a lot more confidence driving the van again.

They do make more noise than my previous tires. They can also feel a bit ‘floaty’ when changing lanes at speed, however they never feel like they are losing grip. Perhaps this will calm down as they wear. On that note, they all came with 9mm of tread depth. Michelin claim it should be 9.9mm. So my measure may be slightly out or their manufacturing tolerances allow this. One handy feature is a % wear indicator. There are 4 levels, 100%, 75%, 50% and 25%. As each level wears away you can quickly see how much tread you have left, without having to measure, which is handy.

I’ll report back in about 6 months with initial wear, as well as how they handle in milder and warmer weather. Hopefully also by then we’ll have had some snow and I can test them on that.

I replaced my worn front tires with these at the advice of the garage. My van previously had Michelin Agilis 51 that had covered aprox 35k miles.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend these tires. They were on in the dry, but as soon as it rained these had no grip and it was difficult to put traction down when coming out of junctions. I also did not feel confident in their stopping ability, especially in the wet.

After only 21k miles they had worn down to 3mm. As my rear Agilis had now worn to 2mm (at 55k I’ll add) I decided to change all 4 tires at the same time. When I ran the numbers I calculated the cost per 1k mile was actually higher with the Falkin than the previous tires, and with a dramatic decrease in ability.

I would strongly recommend someone to look elsewhere for tires. There price now means they aren’t even so ‘midrange’ as they use to be, getting close to the cost of premier tires.

No sport car or SUV
Wheel spin in 1st gear in wet weather, sometimes 2nd
Very good grip in dry weather even below zero degrees
Comfort good too
No rim protection

On dry road they're good, but on the wet road are awful. Dangerous. No grip.
They are to noisy too. I will never buy them again.

Had these tires on for 3 months, and am overall very pleased indeed.

We live in rural area, and they absorb the bumps and lumps very well indeed. They also feel very surely planted, wet, dry or whatever, and do feel as if they actually improve the drive of the vehicle. I`d say Rolling Resistance is very low and good, and you feel like you are rolling very nicely. Fuel consumtion is improved as well. It actually feels like you need less throttle compared to some other tires.

The one downside I find is they the style of the tread seems to mean water and mess forces out, throws up a little higher and around than some other tires as no open cross blocks if you will. Shame. But overall they great drive so its a very small price to pay.

Had chance to use them in the recent snow and ice, and while not like a winter Conti TS850( about the best winter tire ) for instance, they are really quite good. Especially holding well going downhill on ice and snow. If going up a quite steep covered hill you need to keep them going really if you can. But overall very useful indeed, in a wintery situation.

If you like a really comfortable drive, with decent winter abilities and really good handling through the range, plus good miles per gallon too. They really are worth a look. Also saves all of that faffing about changing over the tires in November each year.

So very handy and good indeed, in a rural setting, and would be superb in other less demanding places.

These tires just do NOT aquaplane! Confy soft ride, corner OK, wet grip and braking phenomenal. So good I've just kept them on instead of refitting the (expensive) summer set

I put these tires on my van last year just before it started to snow. Not once did I get stuck in the snow. Took them off in the spring and refitted them this winter I think they are a good allround tire.
