Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Given 53% while driving a Triumph Spitfire 1500 (155/80 R13) on mostly town for 1,000 average miles
Got these on an older classic car. Previous owner mentioned they were ok, but I'd probably want to change them. Boy, was he right. They're tires in the academic sense - they're black, round, and made of rubber. You can put air in them and drive the car. But the sidewall flex on these things is absurd. Going around normal intersection turns, the back end felt like it was squishing around on water balloons to the point that passengers with no deep car knowledge commented on it. The tires being still relatively new, I thought the rear suspension was in need of a refresh, but when I started getting into it, I discovered it had recently been already done. So I gave the car a hip bump on the side, and was surprised at how much lateral movement occurred from the sidewalls of these tires. I'm not terribly hard to please when it comes to a car that only sees occasional use, but I'll be replacing these in the spring for any tire at all that doesn't make me feel like the whole back end of the car is coming loose.

Given 36% while driving a Volkswagen (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Budget tire put on by a previous owner to pass an MOT. Totally ruined the cars handling characteristics and wet grip not great. Wore out on front very quickly, very little feedback/progressiveness. Cheap tire and it shows.

Given 86% while driving a Citroën berlingo (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 15,000 easy going miles
When I purchased my car 18 months ago these were fitted and new. When I drive I don't try to brake any land speed records, they perform well for the average driver. Dry, wet and snow they perform as they should. My previous car with premium branded tires in the snow could not get me up the to my house, my new car with these fitted has no problems handling the snow and ice on the hill that I live on. I have driven 15,000 miles and the fronts still have 5.5 - 6mm of tread left on them. I would think about using these tires again.

Given 16% while driving a Fiat Panda (155/80 R13 T) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Fronts worn out after 10k on a Fiat Panda - very unimpressed.

Extremely noisy and very uncomfortable. Even at £30 a pop they#re a lot of money - avoid.
