Testers repeatedly describe "excellent handling on ice" and "high levels of grip on snow and ice", and the objective data backs that up with multiple class wins on ice (e.g. 1/8 ice braking in 2020 Vi Bilägare; 1/5 in-class ice braking in 2020 Test World; 1/10 ice braking in 2017 Autocenter) plus strong snow handling results (e.g. 1/8 snow handling in 2020 Vi Bilägare).

The Finnish Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 provides the car with good acceleration and braking on ice. The car responds well to the steering wheel, and in case of a slide, it is easy to regain control. On wet roads it grips well in corners, but there is a tendency to drift in the dry.
