The Mastersteel shows substantial limitations on dry roads with the longest braking distances and least precise handling in the test. Wet performance is critically deficient across all metrics, scoring poorly in every wet test and presenting potential safety concerns. Its only genuine advantages are low rolling resistance for better fuel economy and quiet operation. This budget option illustrates the significant trade-offs at the lowest price point – while initially inexpensive, its extremely short lifespan, poor grip, and compromised safety characteristics make it the least economical choice over time and difficult to recommend for any regular use case.

Given 79% while driving a Hyundai elantra (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 70,000 spirited miles
I upgraded my wheels from 15 to 17 inches at a tire shop, there were used tires that came with them but they were too tall for my car, thus I was introduced to try Mastersteel which was within my budget.

I have read pretty good reviews online for the super sport 2 model and decided to try this out as it is a UHP tire. I am really impressed with the dry and wet grip, and the overall comfort and quiet ride! They give me the confidence to drive faster on rainy days, treads on water puddles without much drama. They can definitely compete with other premium brands like continental in terms of grip and comfort.

Wear is good, have used them for more than 110,000km with tire rotation @ every 10,000km and they seem to be able to last at least another 10,000km! However, I can hear a little humming sound coming from the tires already. May decide to change them out earlier if the sound gets louder.

Will definitely consider changing to another new set of mastersteels!
