Kumho Ecsta PS91 Reviews - Page 2

Seemed like a great value midrange tire initially, but wore out very quickly. All 4 where put on with in a month of each other and only last 12.000s on the front. Maybe 30% left on rears. , while the fronts needed replacing. So I've replaced them all for Dunlop sportmax GTs. Only £10 more per tire.

Good : -great levels of grip in the dry. -great road feed back. Average : -wear (around 8'000km in the rear) Bad : -really not linear at the limits, in the dry and even worse in the wet. Really not a confidence inspiring tire. When it goes, it goes. -price, for the price in my size you can have goodyear asymmetric5 for cheaper, and michelin ps4 for only a litle bit more money. I personnaly do not recommend this tire.

Dry grip was good. In general the tire was comfortable. Wet grip was scary a lot of aquaplaning when I went into any amount of water.

Tire is good for grip and handling dry or wet on the rear of a red lexus. Wear though is really poor lasted 6k at best and this was not a hard life

Given 61% while driving a BMW 320D M Sport (225/45 R18) on mostly town for 5,000 easy going miles
Will start by saying these tires wear quickly on heavy cars!! I have a BMW 320d M Sport and I have done 5,000 miles / 8 months on these tires and they are now 4mm tread left. So I am expecting these tires to last up to 10,000 miles :-(

Overall these are good tires for grip both wet and dry and smooth running. Some things they are not good for are very hard sidewalls so you have to pump the type up to around 36psi to get decent roll on them. Also I was not impressed with the fuel eco on them as they are F grade.

I had these tires on now for just over 6 months after swapping out the ES32 ecos that came with my car and quickly noticed a difference on the way back. Steering weight was slightly heavier, more responsive while turning and more steering feedback. While driving hard I haven't heard any tire squeal and grip is more than enough both in the dry and wet. While cruising around town it's reasonably quiet and comfortable for this class of tire. Wear seems to be good so far and I can still see the tread's flag decals on the rears. I would definitely buy these again especially considering they are much more affordable than premium brands while having similar performance.

Replaced my Continental run flats with these and the difference was night and day. No tramming, harshness over the slightest bump. Very quiet and comfortable and good value for money. I have covered 18000 miles on the rear and still showing 4.2 mm. Would definitely recommended.

Having had the 245 section tire on the back of a BMW for around 10,000 miles i finally needed new tires on the front axle as well. The Rainsport 3's the Kumho PS91 have replaced were regarded as a good tire and i didn't think anything was wrong with them while they were fitted but now i realise that the Kumho are a FAR SUPERIOR tire to the Uniroyals.
The car is transformed in both comfort and grip, road feel has increased and the car now feels much lighter on the front axle with the set of four PS91's installed.
The rear tires appear to be wearing well after 10,000 miles, i'm expecting to get that out of them again so i'll be happy with that.
If you were wondering what tire to go for next, a set of these are superb in all conditions, even on some pretty shoddy British roads. They handle normal motorway miles very well, spirited driving and pulling out of junctions in a 310hp BMW with 620 NM of torque gives you no problems, highly recommend, hopefully Kumho continue to make these when i need another set.

Given 84% while driving a BMW 320d touring (225/45 R18) on mostly country roads for 5,000 average miles
Both dry and wet grip is very good!
Very good road feedback.
Advantage of its stiff sidewalls is sharp and fast steering, and disadvantage is lower comfort. (Still more comfortable than OE runflat tires)
Recommended. I will buy again.

My comments for BMW/Mini owners:
If your car has factory-fitted runflat tires and you are thinking about changing to conventional tires, then I highly recommend Kumho PS91. Because of its stiff sidewalls, Kumho PS91's steering character is close to factory-fitted runflats. Never change your factory-fitted runflat tires with convensional tires with soft sidewalls. Otherwise your BMW/Mini will loose its steering and handling character.

I have these on the rear of my 320bhp 530d with over 600lbs of torque, in the dry the grip is very good and can usually floor it off the line and it will sink in and grip without too much fuss, but in the wet once the wear is below 3.5mm its hard to put much power down off the line or floor it below 40mph.

i do around 40k miles per year mostly motorway but i do like to put my right foot down, on corners the rear is stable and not too twitchy which is good for a big barge and the wear is really good in my opinion if you dont floor it all the time causing the tires to self destruct.
The rears on my last set lasted 22k miles, this time around im at 25k miles with about 3mm left.

at around £140 per wheel fitted its not bad and is worth the money.
