Bridgestone Weather Control A005 Reviews - Page 4

Given 81% while driving a BMW 1 series (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 2,000 spirited miles
Fitted to my BMW M140 and they have made the difference, excellent wet grip, assured at zero temperatures and still match premium summer tires in the dry. My M140 is now as sure footed in winter as it is on the Michelin MPSS in the summer!

I was really hoping to have that 'wow' effect, but unfortunately it never worked.
These tires are really good in heavy rain, but that's where it ends.
First, they are noisy. Secondly, I don't feel comfortable when having to brake when it's wet and the temperature is pretty low.
The last thing and probably the worst is the huge increase of fuel consumption straight from the first day they were fitted. It's terrible to be honest. I feel as if I am driving a tank.
In my opinion, they are nowhere near to my previous Michelin Cross Climates.
Maybe sounds a bit harsh, but that's my opinion on them. My judgement is purely based on my experience.
I definitely do not recommend Bridgestone All-weather Control.

Given 50% while driving a Citroën C4 Grand Picasso (205/55 R17) on a combination of roads for 10,000 easy going miles
Bought for front wheels of my Citroen Grand Piccasso, to replace budget tires which gave 16500 miles.
After 9500 miles the MOT station declared them "..worn close to legal limit on inner edge, nearside" and " ...worn close to legal limit offside...(HEAVY INNER WEAR - DANGEROUS"
Changed to Goodyear at 10185 miles and had geometry checked.AMAZINGLY, WELL WITHIN SPEC.
Have monitored Goodyear tires for over 8000 miles and no sign of inner edge wear.
I contacted Bridgestone at this stage. They made half-hearted offer to have the tire which I retained inspected, but suggested that most likely outcome would be decision that it was a steering geometry fault (which it wasn't.
I must admit that I can understand this way of thinking, but in any event, I will not again buy tires of this type as I cannot live with 10000 miles from a premium tire.

What to know the BEST All Season Tires for 2024? Click to find out!
Given 87% while driving a Renault Talisman 160 edc estate (245/40 R19 W) on mostly motorways for 500 spirited miles
These are 245/40 19 Y tires and not a common size, so I was pleased that Bridgestone had an All Season product available, as previously on a BMW 5 series estate I had Michelin Cross Climate tires. I was very happy indeed with the Michelin’s, that gave superior all round grip and handling, plus an acceptable performance in snow and ice. They also wore very well staying on the car for two winters.

First impressions of these Bridgestones is that compared to the Continental Sport Contact 5 tires my car came with from new, they are much more generous in size on the wheel. They make the Continental’s appear one size less. These A005 tires have a far superior rim protector too. My Bridgestones are made in Hungary.

Road noise is about the same as the Continentals, and ride comfort slightly worse but that could be to do with the tire pressures. I will remove a bit of air from the Bridgestones to ‘tune’ the ride better.

It is a bit early to comment on how these tires cope with winter conditions, but in the wet grip levels are very high and at autoroute speeds aquaplaning resistance is exemplary. The aggressive tread pattern promises a high level of grip when the going gets tough, and I certainly feel much more confident entering the winter period with all season tires on.

Choosing these tires via the information in owner reviews on this website and the links to the group tests, have proved to be accurate. Many thanks.

Given 76% while driving a Mercedes Benz B180Cdi (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
44.000 ca. km in 13 months: excellent performances on wet and dry, quite sufficient on winter conditions usefull to rich your destination in emergency.
But bad comfort: the more you ride the more noisy, Only the first 10.000 km have been normal, after a disaster. During the last 4000 km were a strange vibration too on front axle between 120/130 kph, impressive.
I just replaced them now with new Crossclimate plus Michelin, excellent comfort, wear, and better winter although minor (a litle bit) dry and wet performances

Good tire, performs reasonably well in all conditions! Yet to use in ice and snow...

Given 100% while driving a Renault Koleos (225/55 R19) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
So far I am very pleased with having purchased the Bridgestone weather control A 005 tires, they are a massive improvement to the comfort of ride, compared to the summer tires (Goodyear Efficient grip SUV4x4) originally fitted to my vehicle, it was a real bone shaker before and all the family wanted me to get rid of the vehicle.
The tires are of course softer than a summer tire and make for an excellent ride and appear to be quieter than the Goodyear summer tires previously fitted. The tires have yet to be tried in cold weather below 7 degrees C - snow ice etc.
Being a softer tire and more of a bulge at the base of the tire one must take more care when parking against curbstones to avoid damage to the side walls.

Given 60% while driving a BMW 330d M Sport (225/45 R17 V) on mostly motorways for 100 spirited miles
My normal ‘go to’ all-season tire is the Michelin Cross-Climate+, but it wasn’t available in either my 18” summer wheel or 17” winter wheel sizes. Had a look around and the only options available in premium tires were the Goodyear Vector 4 Season Gen 2, or these Bridgestones.

Reviews were favourable for both, with the Goodyears being better in the snow and the Bridgestones being better in the wet. As most of my driving will be cold & wet, the snow score was only useful for emergencies, so I went for the much cheaper Bridgestones.

Only had them on for 1000 miles, but I’ve stopped about every hundred to check the wheels are tightened up properly, and tires have been fitted correctly, as the car bobs about all over the place on even smaller rut or road imperfection, and tramlines along motorway/dual carriageway ruts.

I guess this was never spotted on the tests as they tend to be done on circuits, but it’s a huge omission for a normal use road tire.

I hope these wear in a bit and get better, otherwise I’m putting the summer tires back on (cheap Maxxis UHPs which weigh a ton, but don’t tramline).

Given 44% while driving a Mercedes Benz Brabus Tuned (250/35 R18) on mostly motorways for 10,000 spirited miles
Fitted these to my C350 Brabus D6. They are terrifying on a higher powered car, granted 700nm takes some containing for any tire but these are scarily easy to break away with very little effort in the dry or wet.

I cannot recommend them, they will be gone very soon.

Given 67% while driving a Volkswagen Golf 7 TDI (225/45 R17 V) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
Bought these to replace worn out Davanti DX640's and I have to say I'm underwhelmed so far. They feel much less assured when cornering and generally sloppy. They also tramline terribly. I find their poor handling characteristics a big surprise given Bridgestone is at the upper end of the market. Not tested on snow/ice yet. Wet grip seems fine, but not noticably better than the Davanti tires they have replaced.

Given 83% while driving a Honda Civic (205/50 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
These tires go hand in hand with the 8th gen Civic. Very precise road feedback and handling. Relatively comfortable with low rolling noise and almost no clunky sounds from potholes. There's no ice where I live, but there might be a couple of snowy days. Nothing much to say for winter conditions, but we seem to get along better than average. The rest of the year is rather cold and rainy, which these tires handle brilliantly.

I'm guessing these are 1/3 worn by now, which is OK for the car and driving conditions.

Really, this is probably the best tire I could buy for my car and the climate I live in. Loads better than the Uniroyal RS3 in every way and better in cold rain and snow than the Bridgestone ER300's it came with.

Given 84% while driving a Renault Megane (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
Very similar to Michelins CrossClimates I had before, but with stiffer profile that gives much better steering feel, ok in snow, wear seams ok after 10.000km
