The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 used to be the very top of Goodyear's ultra high performance summer tire range, but this year Goodyear have launched the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport, SuperSport R and SuperSport RS.
The new SuperSport sits above the Asymmetric 5 in the performance category, but is still firmly a road tire, where as the SuperSport R and RS move the bias away from road and towards track use in steps.
In this video, I test the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 against the new Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport and SuperSport R using a Ford Focus RS wearing 235/35 R19 tires to see exactly what the differences are.

The SuperSport R again stretched it's advantage in dry handling, however the SuperSport was particularly fast for a road bias tire.

The added subjective handling qualities of the SuperSport hurt its performance during the comfort testing, with the Asymmetric 5 being the most comfortable tire on test.
I have a 2012 Lexus GS450H and looking for a new set of tires. First of all i want to say thank you for your amazing reviews as it s very difficult to find some good advice. I live in England and i use the car mostly to travel and i like to push it sometimes as it has 340hp and can be pretty fun. I drive about 2000 miles a month on average, what tire would you recommend me? 235/ 45 R18 98Y
Thank you! I had GY Asymmetric 3 on my old Z4 3.0i and i was very happy but after doing more research looks like Michelin’s is the better choice despite the higher price. I check at Costco and the guys they only did PS4S for 19” or bigger so i will have to go with the PS4. They have really good offers every 3 weeks. The comfort would be on the first place. Talking about comfort, what (good) options are out there for tires with foam inside to reduce the noise/ improve comfort?

I bought a Megane RS Trophy last year and after the first year of having fun the original Bridgestone S001 are shredded... So I need to find a new tire for this beasty hot hatch. (245/35 R19)
My opinion is the Bridgestoen Potenza is not the best option for a front drive with limited-slip differential... it feels like the power is not on the road and the steering doesnt feel nice and pointy. Also the feeling for the road is not the best.
At the moment your videos on YT pushed me from Continental Sport Contact 6 and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S to the GY SuperSport and the Asymmetric 5...but I also have the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti in mind, but I cant find a comparison. Wich one would you recommend for a hot hatch... Thx!

Looking for increased grip in the wet and overall better traction off the line, living in England as you know it rains forever. 50/50 split between commuter miles and spirited drives.

I am very intersted to get the Asysmmetric 5 or the supersport for my Nissan 200SX S14. But they are not available in the same sizes.
I would like to drive 18 inch 225/40 in the front and 18 inch 245/35 in the back for road use. For drifting I switch back to my actual 17 inch 225 all around. The Suspension is setup relativly neutral for drifting with the 225s and I would like to get it more understeery for road use by only changing the wheels.
The Asymmetric 5 is available in 225/40 R18 and 245/35 R18 but the supersport is only available in as 225/40 r18. What would you suggest?
If you're making the switch for stability, you'd be smart to match the same tires all round as the Asym 5 and SS will have slightly different roll characteristics.
On that sort of car I'd run 225 all round, 245 doesn't buy you MUCH more grip (check out the tire width video we've done on this) and the SuperSport is a sportier feeling tire

Good question. Both tires are excellent, both are test winning, both are ok on track. It might come down to which brand you prefer if the price is the same!

I was very surprised here the Supersport was that much faster in the wet, when I expected it to be equal at best, or a bit worse to the A5. E.g. the PS4 and PS4S were equal in the tirereviews test last year.
Amazing blend of wet and dry performance on the Supersport, very happy with mine and these tests confirm it's not me imagining things :)
Now confused, in the vid the SS was significantly faster than the A5 in the wet, but in the stats above they are the same? And times are different? @Tirereviews
The tests were done on a 2 wheel drive car with moderate HP. How would the results differ on an 800wHp AWD supercar, since you can't really drift? Even with traction control turned off.

The PS4S or Asymmetric 5 would be a good option depending on local pricing and how much you rate comfort.

It depends what you're preference is, comfort or handling as that's the small differences between the two tires :)

Tricky. The SuperSport might be marginally better in the wet, but the Asym 5 might be a slightly better tire for those commuter miles.
As it's me, I'd always go for more UHP bias on an M135i, so go for the SuperSport. IT'll also feel more MPSS like on the front axle.

Yes for sure. mix match of the the Tire type would be silly. But I am unsure to go with 225 SS all around or with Asm 5 225 front and 245 rear.

Easy, SuperSport. The PS2 is a very old tire.

I tired in 89 instead of 88 for the SuperSports wet lap, thanks for noticing.
How should I go about interpreting the reviews for AWD supercars? Front tires vs rear, as to balance? Wet and dry.
