Tire Rack's 2024 highway all-season test puts nine highway terrain tires for pickups and SUVs on a 2024 Toyota Tacoma in 265/70 R17, covering the road ride, wet and dry track performance and, in a winter round added later, snow handling. The Continental TerrainContact H/T came out on top on Tire Rack's combined road and track rating, with the strongest mix of wet and dry grip and the fastest wet lap, just ahead of the Bridgestone Dueler LX and the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2.
The field was close. The Dueler LX shared the shortest wet braking distance and was the quickest round the snow handling course, while the Vredestein Pinza HT and the Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast HT shared the best real-world road score but were less capable when pushed on the track. The Kumho Crugen HT51 finished last, with good dry cornering grip but the lowest road score and the slowest wet lap in the group.

Tire Rack run the same procedures on the same truck across a whole season of tests, which makes their results easy to compare from one test to the next. The order here follows their combined road and track rating, which leaves out the winter round. The difference between best and worst was 11.6% (18 ft ≈ 1.2 Car Lengths). From 80 mph, the Vredestein Pinza HT would still be travelling at 26 mph when the Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse HT had stopped.
Residual speed is calculated from the measured braking distances, assuming constant deceleration; it is not a separate measurement.
