2026 Tire Rack All Terrain Tire Snow Test P9 of 30

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 3 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Kumho Crugen HT51 accelerates well on snow, but its stopping and cornering results are less convincing. It led snow traction in the 2026 Tire Reviews highway-terrain test and was eighth of 30 in Tire Rack's 2026 snow comparison. Snow braking was weaker in both: sixth of seven and 23rd of 30 respectively. Tire Rack also placed it 27th for ice braking and 28th for ice acceleration. Snow handling was below average in the 2026 Tire Reviews test and eighth of nine in Tire Rack's 2024 highway test.

Tire Reviews awarded it Recommended in 2026, placing it fourth of seven, with third places in both aquaplaning tests and second for warranty-based value. Its second-place comfort score was unusually favorable beside Tire Rack's 2024 criticism of a firm ride and lowest road score. Noise drew criticism in both road tests. Dry braking was near the back in each, while wet handling was fifth of seven in Tire Reviews and last of nine in Tire Rack. Tire Rack praised progressive dry breakaway, although its written claim of strong cornering grip sits awkwardly with a seventh-of-nine dry-circle result. Overall, the record is mixed, with snow acceleration stronger than snow braking and handling.

Best HT All Season Tires for 2026 Tested!

Tire Reviews 265/65 R18 Tested by Tire Reviews Recommended

The Kumho Crugen HT51 is a solid tire, if not a little inconsistent. It struggled in the dry tests and was a little tricky to drive in the wet, and while it had good comfort and was good value overall, it's amazing snow traction and average snow everything else made for an interesting experience. Like the Michelin it's a good tire, it just needs some refining to be at the front of tests.
