Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 vs Nexen N Blue 4Season 2

This head-to-head pits Goodyear's premium all-season benchmark, the Vector 4Seasons Gen 3, against Nexen's value-driven N Blue 4Season 2. Across eight shared professional tests from 2023-2025, both tires show clear identities: Goodyear leans into wet security and winter traction, while Nexen trades a chunk of wet performance for stronger dry braking and a lower price point.

The data reveals consistent patterns. Goodyear dominates in wet safety (braking, handling, aquaplaning) and on snow (traction, braking, control), often by meaningful margins-up to 45% better in curved aquaplaning in several tests. Nexen repeatedly stops shorter in the dry and tends to be quieter and cheaper, but shows weaker aquaplaning resistance that limits confidence in heavy rain. Longevity swings by test: ADAC projects far higher mileage for Goodyear, while Auto Bild's wear panel favored Nexen.

While it might look like the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 is better than the Nexen N Blue 4Season 2 purely based on the higher number of test wins, tires are very complicated objects which means where one tire is better than the other can be more important in real world use.

Let's look at how the two tires compare across multiple tire test categories.

Key Strengths

  • Outstanding wet safety: repeated wins in wet braking/handling and aquaplaning (e.g., +42% curved aquaplaning vs Nexen in ADAC 2025)
  • Strong winter capability: consistently better snow traction/braking/handling
  • Projected longevity and low abrasion in ADAC 2025 (68,000 km; -34% abrasion vs Nexen)
  • Lower rolling resistance in most tests, aiding efficiency
  • Shorter dry braking in all shared tests
  • Competitive winter braking/traction with standout ice braking in ADAC 2025
  • Lower price and often lower noise
  • Stable, comfortable manners for everyday driving

Real World Driver Reviews

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 Driver Reviews

Across most reviews, the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 is described as a highly capable all-round tire with standout wet-road security (strong grip, wet braking, and aquaplaning resistance) and confidence in cold conditions including snow for an all-season. Many drivers also report very good longevity/wear and a generally quiet, comfortable ride. The most repeated drawbacks are a softer, less precise steering/feedback feel and slightly weaker dry braking/traction when pushed in warm or hot conditions compared with dedicated summer tires.

Nexen N Blue 4Season 2 Driver Reviews

Drivers of the Nexen N Blue 4Season 2 report a strong all-rounder with standout snow and ice traction, a very quiet and comfortable ride, and solid performance in typical dry and wet conditions. Many highlight excellent value and even improved fuel economy. A minority note that dry/wet grip can feel merely average at times and that traction in heavy standing water isn't class-leading, but overall satisfaction is high.

Best Review for the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3
Given 83% 205/55 R16 on a combination of roads for 3,750 spirited miles
Almost time to switch back to my summer tires. So, here’s my impression of my “mild climate winter” tires. I used to drive on Continental WinterContact TS860 winter tires, but last winters, I noticed that I almost never drive on snow. And in spring and fall, when temperatures jump up and down, I was sometimes driving on my winter tires at temperatures around 20°C. So now, I followed your advice and chose All Season tires for the winter season. I drove them for about 6.000 km now in temperatures between -2 and +16 °C, in the dry and in lots of rain.
Just after switching to the... Continue reading this review using the link below

Conclusion

If your driving sees frequent rain or real winter, the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 is the safer, more rounded choice. It tops most wet metrics, carries stronger snow credentials, and in ADAC's 2025 test couples that with class-leading longevity and lower abrasion-an environmental and long-term value win despite higher upfront cost. Its main drawback is longer dry braking, a consistent theme across tests.

The Nexen N Blue 4Season 2 shines for budget-conscious drivers prioritizing short dry stops, agreeable comfort/noise, and solid winter ability. However, its reduced aquaplaning reserves and softer wet handling cap performance in prolonged wet climates. Choose Nexen for mostly dry, light-winter regions and value; choose Goodyear for balanced year-round security, heavy rain, and dependable winter traction.
Key Differences
  • Wet performance: Goodyear consistently superior in braking, handling, and aquaplaning; Nexen shows early aquaplaning onset
  • Dry braking: Nexen repeatedly stops 3-6% shorter; Goodyear's dry stops are longer
  • Snow: Both competent, but Goodyear typically leads in traction/braking/handling by 2-10%
  • Longevity: ADAC 2025 projects much higher mileage for Goodyear (68k vs 41.4k km), while Auto Bild wear favored Nexen
  • Noise/comfort: Nexen often quieter; Goodyear scores higher in subjective comfort in some tests
  • Value lens: Upfront price favors Nexen; lifetime value can favor Goodyear when factoring ADAC wear and abrasion

Footnote

This page has been developed using tire industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tires in the same test.

Why is this important? Tire testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tire test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tire tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tire Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tire comparison, Tire Reviews doesn't.
